One of the biggest obstacles to distance education in this crisis is there wasn’t a dress rehearsal. Instead we went straight to opening night. #CultureEd
A student asked me yesterday what do I hope to learn from all that is happening- I simply said “I hope that it shows and brings out the best in humanity & the human spirit, that we lift each other up & support each other in our time of need”
@alicekeeler Packets don’t have to be a negative thing if created with the students’ best interest in mind. Choice sheets, inquiry, STEM challenges, cross-curricular reading and reflection, engineering design. Packet does not have to = drill and kill worksheets.
Here is the thing to understand about flattening the curve.
It only works if we take necessary measures before they seem necessary.
And if it works, people will think we over-reacted.
We have to be willing to look like we over-reacted.
@FixingEducation I tell my Ss that my most important job is to “teach them to learn”. They will undoubtedly forget 90% of the middle school science I teach them, but I hope they remember how to ask questions and stay informed. #room1217
