The Delhi High Court on Aug 30 dismissed Central government’s plea challenging Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT)'s order directing it to proceed with Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Sameer Wankhede's promotion as Joint Commissioner of Customs and Indirect Taxes.

While serving in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in 2021, Wankhede had shot to limelight when in a raid led by him, actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested in a drugs case.

The #DelhiHighCourt has rejected the Centre’s plea against granting promotion to #IRS officer #SameerWankhede, upholding the Central Administrative Tribunal’s (CAT) order. A bench of Justice Navin Chawla and Justice Madhu Jain directed the Union Government to comply within four weeks by opening the sealed cover on Wankhede’s promotion. If recommended by #UPSC, he will be promoted as Additional Commissioner with effect from January 1, 2021.
