Teachers need to take responsibility for ALL their students. We should never fear our students or their families just because they are different from us. We need to learn about these differences so we know how to best serve our students. #TCH26410

Students are aware of differences in skin color and how society treats people based on their skin color. We need to address racism in our classrooms to clear up students’ misconceptions and to make them aware of these societal issues so they can be the change we need. #TCH26410

As teachers it is our job to be on the look out for our own biases as well as school policies that show racial bias. We need to be aware of these biases and address them head on. If just one person stands up against racial biases, it can make a difference for many. #TCH26410

Although textbooks may fit within a school’s curriculum, their information is not always accurate or complete. As teachers we need to supplement lessons to incorporate topics that spark students’ interests and that they find meaningful. #TCH26410

As teachers we are responsible for helping shape students to be active citizens who are aware of social justice issues.

One of the things I love most about teaching is finding ways to help students grow and learn. I love thinking of creative ways to teach lessons that are engaging for students. Watching them learn while also having fun reassures me I chose the right profession. #TCH26410
