We're not raising trophies. We're raising human beings.
1. In a culture that often demands perfection from both parents and children, embracing "good-enough" is a radical act of self-compassion.
Turn 5 minutes into a life skill.
A simple story.
A simple activity.
A simple routine.
Body Echo” → listen → repeat → move.
Today: Dad & son, push-ups together.
Tomorrow: confidence, coordination, connection.

I made some simple recordable storybooks for preschoolers (2-6) for life skills. You just record stories in your own voice directly in the book, so your little one can hear you even when you're busy or away. No screens, no hassle. Comes with default english narration so no setup. Thought it might help others facing the same issue as mentioned about how to impart life skills and inculcate a reading habit . What other good finds have you seen?
My 3 year old is so curious by nature that even balance bike riding is a task. Anything that passes by arouses a deep curiosity for him that he drops the bike and is glued to it, pondering, tinkering , thinking. As you said a big uphill task going against their core nature be it anything.
@Nithya_Shrii Kids learn what parents portray. As long as we all don't show civics sense and basic courtesy, expecting it from kids is never possible. As a society, we all have a big responsibility that we keep shrugging off for others to do or keep. It's high time!
What initially started with a recordable greeting card to record simple animal sounds which my 2 year old loved instead of a phone which was distracting, quickly turned into a recordable book where my wife and I used to record stories for him. He loved it. Now it turned into a business. It's important to show kids what the world can be outside of screens. They are quick learners and curious by nature . They follow along, amazing us in different ways.
@iam_preethi Sometimes my son used to get hiccups right before he was drowsy after a meal, after that he just wouldn't go to sleep due to it. That's the worst timing for hiccups, but maybe completely normal for them.
@divya_sharmaMD As a dad to my 2.5-year-old, it might seem strange, but he enjoys stories about my childhood and what life was like way better than any storybook.
@iam_preethi My toddler had a meltdown because I peeled the banana the wrong way 😭. It's more about our character and patience as parents than their capabilities.
@SnehaSSR I also feel there is zero guidance and support for new parents and parenting in general in India. In modern times, more families go nuclear, more are the burden and responsibilities that need to be shared, and a baby adds a different dimension altogether.
Although I agree on some points, facts you presents an idealistic, low-cost vision of early toilet training (and broader parenting) that doesn't fully account for the realities many urban Indian families face today, especially working parents juggling jobs, commutes, limited family support, and the practical demands of modern life. It assumes abundant time, consistent caregiver availability, and a child who picks up cues quickly, which isn't always feasible. Add to it zero guidance on parenting and baby care.
Your child’s favourite voice = YOU ❤️

Your kids aren't "difficult"
They're just reflecting the chaos YOU'RE bringing into the room
I used to think my 4-year-old had anger issues
Turns out I had patience issues
Here's what changed everything:
When he'd meltdown, I'd stop trying to "fix" him and start fixing myself first
Take 3 deep breaths before responding
Walk away if I felt my blood pressure rising
Ask myself: "Is this actually a big deal?"
90% of the time? It wasn't
Your kids don't need a perfect parent
They need a regulated one
The behavior you want to see in them starts with the behavior they see in you
9. You don’t need to be a super-parent.
You just need the right translator for your child’s brain.
The one you never received when they were born.
At Kabir Recordables, we build exactly that.

They’re having a hard time.
