@FootballInT80s There were far fewer games in 94 - half as many to be precise - so direct comparisons are difficult. I was 12 in 94, and I recall kick off times being more obliging to European markets. Not that this was a good thing. Ireland faced Mexico in Orlando at midday in 43 degree heat.

@forestmad80 In 2002, they dubbed the Japan, Belgium, Russia and Tunisia group as the 'group of life.' This is definitely similar levels of unintimidating, although I'd argue the 2 other hosts' groups, as well as the Belgium, Egypt, Iran, New Zealand section are equally as weak as piss.
