🚨 F&O traders — ITR-3 just got a lot more dangerous for the careless.

AY 2026-27 has two new fields specifically for you:

Field 12c → F&O turnover (absolute value of all profits + losses)

Field 12d → F&O income transferred to P&L

Earlier, you could bury this inside general business receipts.

Not anymore.

The IT Dept now auto cross-checks these fields against:

→ Your broker's P&L statement

→ AIS/TIS data

→ STT records

→ Exchange reports

If the numbers don't match, you're getting a notice.

A few things every F&O filer MUST know:

[1] Turnover = absolute value method (ICAI)

Sum of |profit| + |loss| on every trade.
For options: sale consideration counts as turnover.
Not your net profit. The gross.

[2] You cannot use 44AD if you trade F&O
Presumptive taxation is out.

Even if you have another small business — separate it, file ITR-3, show F&O distinctly.

[3] Scale vs. declared income will be scrutinised

₹50L turnover with ₹12,000 declared income?

That mismatch is now machine-readable.

The window for "I didn't know" is closing fast.

File right. Get a CA who understands trading.
