@mperelman@FRANCE24 2/5. #ISIS remains a major security threat, and the continued presence of US and coalition troops in #Iraq is necessary to continue combating that threat.
Today I was pleased to speak with @mperelman at @FRANCE24 about a range of issues, from regional security challenges to the KRG's wide-reaching reform programme. #StrongerKurdistan
A very productive meeting with some of Kurdistan’s top local business leaders. We are committed to listening to and supporting domestic firms as a central part of our economic diversification programme. A thriving private sector is essential to a #StrongerKurdistan
I’ve spoken with Turkey’s Foreign Minister @MevlutCavusoglu to extend our condolences to the victims of today’s earthquake. On behalf of the KRG, I expressed solidarity with those affected and our prayers for a swift recovery for the injured- mb.
I welcome @KurdistanParl’s decision today to pass the Reform Bill into law, marking a historic milestone in our journey towards a #StrongerKurdistan- mb. 1/5
I held talks this evening with @SecPompeo on recent events. We agreed on the importance of deescalating tensions in Iraq through restraint and dialogue- mb.
I wish Christians the world over a very Merry Christmas. It is a great source of pride to me that Christians, in homes across Kurdistan, and at increasing number of churches in the region, can come together today – in peace and security – to celebrate. https://t.co/LFuq9m3FRK
Sami and Neda, the son and daughter of Hujam Surchi, a brave Peshmerga martyr, hoisted the Kurdistan flag with me at the Flag Day ceremony today. We will always honour our heroes and remember those who have given their lives to defend this land.
We need world-class digital infrastructure which works for every citizen and business.
We've already started to digitalise some public services and are now building a data centre which will mean we can go further still.
We are building a government that serves the people.
It was a profound experience meeting with these women and hearing their stories. In response, today we announce more funding for women’s shelters as well as new security, power and transport facilities. The KRG must and will do more to protect victims of gender-based violence.
A government that serves the people means:
1. Making government transparent, efficient and modern
2. Developing partnerships and securing our borders
3. Enabling enterprise
4. Building for the future
#StrongerKurdistan
Our goal is to build a #StrongerKurdistan: Secure, stable, prosperous, and a reliable ally within the international community. My ambition is for us to realise that goal together. https://t.co/7iOv70b1En
