🇺🇸Last week's U.S. corn export sales were the largest for any week on record (since at least 1999) that did NOT explicitly involve China.
The week's soybean sales were also a marketing-year high as China rounds out it's 12-million-ton purchasing promise.
The USDA said on Friday that it will release several key #agriculture#reports in November, including a monthly crop supply and demand report (#WASDE) that was not issued in October due to the ongoing U.S. government shutdown.

🇺🇸USDA tentatively pegs 2025 U.S. corn, soybean and wheat plantings relatively close to the average trade estimates - corn & wheat a bit above, soybeans a bit below.
Chart is super busy but the takeaway is crystal clear - speculators' massive net short in US grains & oilseeds is uncharted territory at this point in the year.
🇧🇷Conab made sizable cuts to #Brazil's output of #corn & #soybeans on Thursday, citing poor weather. Almost 4 mmt off of corn and nearly 6 mmt off of beans. Those moves also lowered export projections.
🇺🇸U.S. #corn conditions fall 5 points on the week to 64% good/excellent, below the trade expectation of 67%. #Soybeans at 62% good/exc and spring #wheat at 64% were also below expectations. Winter wheat condition improved and harvest is 4% complete.
🇺🇸Analysts see U.S. #corn conditions falling to 67% good/excellent from 69% last week. #Soybeans are seen at 65% g/e, below the five-year average of 67% for the first soybean ratings of the year.
🇺🇸U.S. #corn planting at 26% is even with the 5-year average, but #soybeans are safely ahead. Spring #wheat planting is 10 pts behind average and winter wheat conditions improved slightly (+2 good/exc, +1 poor/very poor).
🇺🇸U.S. winter #wheat conditions come in at 28% good/excellent, below both the trade guess of 31% and the end of November's 34%. That is just about the worst early April conditions on record (near 1996) and does not bode well for yield possibilities.
USDA confirms the sale of 178,000 tonnes of U.S. #corn for delivery to #China in 2022/23.
🌽That's 11 out of the last 13 business days with an old-crop corn flash to China. Not a record by volume but it's the steadiest streak we've seen since China started buying again in 2020.
🇧🇷Second #corn is 61% planted in Parana, #Brazil, well behind the 5yr avg of 83% and slightly behind 2021 at 64% - making this year's pace the slowest in at least 15 years, maybe more. #Soybeans are 48% harvested, behind 64% avg and 52% in 2021.
🇧🇷More than half of #Brazil's 2nd #corn is being planted outside the ideal window. My findings suggest even moderate delays in the past notably raised yield sensitivity to weather. No need for panic yet but also shouldn't be downplayed. Also this is where China gets its corn now.
