@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms Trust me, you’ll feel really dumb once you go read the convo back & realize how dense you are &where you went wrong/strayed. OP made a case about studio not collecting box office yet if it were to give out bonuses, you’re the one arguing over the $15m deal paid by universal.
@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms This is how dumb you are. In the same tweet, you go from talking about the studio(OP’s initial argument)..to a $14m deal and start listing off the production companies that were involved in a different $14m dollar deal that was paid by the studio.
@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms OP said STUDIO, you’re over here arguing about the PRODUCTION companies & the $14-15million sale back at tiff. What does that have to do with the Art director?
@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms So then what are you arguing? He said studio, your saying production company. Art director worked 20 days & made $6,741 AFTER TAXES. This is her 2nd credited project. She made $337/per day AFTER TAXES. What do you want the initial $15million sale do with her?
@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms So the question is, how much of that $15million has been already paid out? Was it one big cash deal? Was it $1-$2million cash and the rest installments? WE DONT KNOW. The film alone had 10 producers. That’s a big trickle down
@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms Again, you’re stuck on “no money” vs what I’m arguing which is actual significant money. When people buy cars, which the car dealership considers a sale, are they paying in full? Not always. Based on what contract they sign, they will still make payments after the FINAL SALE.
@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms You’re not understanding. You’re arguing “no money was paid” because OP had mentioned the possibility. I’m arguing we have no idea how much actual significant money has been paid so far, like actual SIGNIFICANT money from that distribution deal & who were first priorities $ wise
@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms I’m sorry, do you normally handle $10million+ dollar deals? Do you know selling & closing are not always the same? Do you normally work with contracts? Do you understand contract language vs what headlines write about? Do you have ANY sense of what that ACTUAL deal is?
@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms Thats because we literally know NOTHING. The $15million, was it a “cash” deal? Is it being paid over installments?Do we know how much even Curry Baker pocketed? Has that money been distributed already? This is all speculation on a film that is still playing in theaters.
@goobtub@NotMikeHarlow@wompstompfilms Focus bought the distribution rights for $14-15million. Out of that money, the first to be paid are initial investors(the ones who financed it) Sales agents, lawyers take anywhere from 10-20%. Taxes also take 25%-40%. Sold for 15million doesn’t equal filmmaker made 15million.
@FABIOof119@RexhaRexhaRexha Hey buddy, if the market collapses….please educate us on what happens to those retailers & distributers? Does the effect lead to them ordering LESS product? Lower sales volume? What happens to production runs? What happens to their profit? Do you know ball?
@reasonlfg@directordaddyy I would counter you & say Deon Taylor since Black & Blue has filmed 3 films, with each film making less than the previous one. His press isn’t Barker’s press because he has already made films for theathers & less & less people show up for each new film.
@reasonlfg@directordaddyy Idk man you lost me there. Black & Blue only made $23 million of a $12 million budget(lost money) and was a box office disappointment.
@reasonlfg@directordaddyy I was replying to OP, not you as he had mentioned the reason they can spend more on marketing is because it was made for $750k. For $750k this movie looks crazy, but to say they had more money to market it because of that is simply not true as it was purchased for 15million.
@directordaddyy@reasonlfg I’m curious, do you always feel confident in being wrong? The film was made for $750k, but the rights were purchased for $15million.
