Interestingly, one of the worst things about the Nigerian character - bloviating, buffoonish overconfidence - is also a superpower that sets Nigerians apart when it is intentionally harnessed and channelled correctly.
Whenever Nigerians (born and raised in Nigeria) learn how to combine their social confidence with actual intellectual substance and a good amount of self awareness, the world will have a serious problem on its hands.
I believe in my people🙏🏿
@Kosiso_k@IzunnaDike I totally agree that this is one of the solutions. We also need to start diversifying in the type of businesses we run. We have too many independent stores. And we are all running d same businesses
@theelanwoman@IzunnaDike Mistakes from Naija. We criticize without understanding. Let’s come together and ask what d real problem is and how to solve it. We need these businesses to survive.
@theelanwoman@IzunnaDike The African business space needs a general overhaul. Not just grocery stores. Our restaurants are also struggling that’s y jollof rice and 2 small meat is almost $20. Whereas Chinese sells for $12. I think Nigerians are not asking the right questions. We are repeating the same
“I never said that.”
Here is the evidence for every quote Nigeria’s presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala denied saying in his appearance on Head to Head with @mehdirhasan.

@dkinghimself_@Kingkuti_ Using the name “African Store/Mart” already segregates the customers. I would prefer using “International Grocery Store to attract more demographics.
@dkinghimself_@Kingkuti_ I don’t think they will. Price is not the only Factor. Variety, availability. Those are factors. An average Canadian Caucasian is shopping for Mac and cheese which u wouldn’t find in an African store.
@ablacktan@Kingkuti_ That’s very true. Personally I wouldn’t advise anyone to open an African store. The ones we get don reach. We need to diversify and work together. If 3-4 stores cn collaborate they can get things cheapr. Shared shipping costs, more buying power so we can negotiate for les prices
@Kingkuti_ General food stuff - nofrills, food basics or Walmart. Bulk items -Costco. African food stuff like palm oil, banga etc I go to African stores. If u are shopping from just one u are not getting the best value for your money.
@Kingkuti_ This is y it’s so difficult for African businesses to thrive. Compare prices between no frills, food basics and Asian stores. You would see that the Asian stores are also more expensive. Personally I patronize all of them for different things. Asian stores - meat, fish.
@Kingkuti_ FYI some things are cheaper in African stores too. Cerelac in Asian store. $18, Adrian store. 12/15. Walmart $8.50. This is just one example.
@ablacktan@Kingkuti_ Exactly. And they also have buying power. An Asian superstore has a cousin that is a supplier another cousin that ships. Then let’s not talk about labour. A lot of underground workers but don’t quote me. We are comparing ants with elephants.
