I recently learned something that shifted how I understand prayer. When the Bible says “the God of Abraham/David/Jacob,” it’s not repetition,it’s revelation. God’s name is attached to people’s stories so we understand how He shows up. The God of Jacob is the God who stays with the struggler. The God of David is the God who restores after failure. The God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is the God who delivers in the fire. Growing up, I heard my mom pray like this all the time.

I didn’t realize she was calling on specific dimensions of God’s faithfulness. Now I understand, when we say “the God of…” we’re saying, “Do here what You did there.”

Today, I had the privilege of speaking at the 5th Uganda Conference on Cancer and Palliative Care at Speke Resort Munyonyo, hosted by @PCAUganda and @UgandaCancerIns. In my reflections on gender and leadership equity, I underscored that achieving progress requires more than simply “leveling the playing field.” Interventions must cut across the full spectrum of equality, equity, and justice.

Women in health leadership need both tools and opportunities to thrive. It is a paradox that while women (majority of whom are nurses) constitute 70–80% of the health workforce in many countries, they hold only a quarter, or less, of leadership positions. Closing this gap is not just a matter of fairness, it is a matter of strengthening our health systems.

Indeed, one of the critical indicators of a resilient and responsive health system should be the number of women in leadership roles, including specialized fields. We need to stop treating equity as a favor extended to women. It is a necessity. @CIUuga #normalizeLeadershipEquity
