One of the things that has always been a long-term goal for me has been turning my eventual storefront and workshop into a place for community as well. I'm not just some magical shop fairy that loads in when people enter, and I'm certainly not some big scary industry Boogeyman.

I'm a goddamn nerd. I play Dungeons and Dragons twice a week with my friends; I play video games, I even play one of them competitively.

I want my space to be a place where people of any origin, color, creed, gender, orientation, or walk of life can be amongst friends. I'd love to be able to close up shop at 7 PM, order half a dozen pizzas, and bring people onto the workshop floor to sit around a table and throw the shiny math rocks and (s)lay the dragons.

I'd love to be able to lock the doors and sit down with the guys working with me and dive into Automaton Hell.

I'd love to be able to sit in the shop, talking to members of my community, about news, the goings on around us, their lives, my vegetable garden, my dogs, their kids, whatever the hell we feel like, over a cup of coffee, and not worry about the types of people that enter the store, or the judgement of others.

But for any of that to happen, I need people to know I'm not the bad guy. I'm not a member of "the other side", I'm not out to judge you for who you are, what you do, where you came from, what your genits are, who you bang, or how you choose to live.

If you are accepting of others, I am accepting of you. KSM is not a den of evil and depravity. It's a business owned by a human being that sees other human beings as just that; Other human beings. Peers, equals.

Heemeyer was fucked by the local government interfering in his business and doing everything they can to interfere with his property and livelihood because they wanted to steal his property from him in a legal format.

Gen AI as a business model actively steals from artists in order to try and replace them in their own market so that it can profit off of their work without any effort.

Honestly, in the case of the UMP... not really? The 9mm is fine for it, serviceable, but the recoil impulse overall was shit and the ergonomics didn't help, so the 45 just felt bad and honestly who still shoots .40 S&W. The 9mm is the most reasonable but it still doesn't feel great.

I do think there is at least a bit more nuance to the 9mm vs .45 debate than even this, but in the end it does all hold true. Real life defense scenarios aren't Hollywood. You don't ever just shoot one round and dramatically watch the guy fall over. You shoot until the threat is no longer a threat, and with modern hollow points, the mitigated recoil of the more controllable round and the higher capacity of your average 9 compared to your average 45 will produce more favorable results under stress and pressure of a self defense scenario.

Well they are. The others do not carry the weight of "This is a limitation of the government", and unfortunately they do have a history of being challenged and repealed, see Prohibition.

That's my bad, that was me misinterpreting your intention, and I'll apologize for that. Too often I get looped in with Maga Republicans and I made the rash assumption that's what was going on here too.

In the unfortunate reality of it all, yes, from a strictly legal standpoint, 19th and Slavery have more leeway to be revoked than 1-10, because outside of 1-10, other constitutional amendments are changes to law as it applies to the citizenry, not stated limitations of the government's power. To use my own example of prohibition as a slightly less provocative subject:

The 21st did not limit Congress' ability to regulate alcohol. It simply repealed the 18th. The 18th did not limit Congress' ability to legalize alcohol, it simply made the import, manufacture, and sale of alcohol illegal.

The Bill of Rights, on the other hand, were written with the SOLE intention of limiting Congress at the lowest level possible. They're foundational, and impossible to repeal because they don't make something legal or illegal, they limit Congress' ability to make them legal or illegal.

1A does not make it illegal to limit speech. A business can throw you out of a store for talking up some shit the owner doesn't like and that's not a 1A violation. The Government, however, cannot make it illegal to talk that same shit. Some lunatic MAGAt can throw me out for dogging on Trump, but Congress cannot make it illegal for me to dog on Trump. The intent and phrasing behind these amendments is important, and the Bill of Rights do not grant you anything by making them legal, it protects those rights by making it so Congress cannot abolish them.
