The journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step. If you keep walking, you can make it anywhere!
If I must be stopped, let the universe itself lock me in place.
It won't be me.
@RealKingMakio@DeuBilko Is a neverending journey. But I personally think, yeah, it's not outlandish to suggest that someone would forget about making such a statement when his skin color means the severity of the statement hadn't dawned on him till it had been placed under a microscope.
@RealKingMakio@DeuBilko The issue is more systemic. White people (like myself) do not experience what POC do on a daily basis, and so something that will register as noteworthy and racist to you won't always catch in our minds. Not an excuse, mind you, because undoing this kind of internalized racism
@DStarblood@TinyMouseKit@fascist_puncher It's not impossible he'd make something of Nino in a submissive position. But he LOVES cat and mouse dynamics when cats remain on top, thus he is not really the one to look for when it comes to swapping those dynamics. This comic is for him, and he doesn't get anything out of it.
@DStarblood@TinyMouseKit@fascist_puncher It would go against everything the story is building up to be. I can promise you and state with authority it won't happen. X3
@DStarblood@TinyMouseKit@fascist_puncher If they did that it'd be a different story entirely. This is not the tone this story has brought together. It'd be total whiplash if Muhny began playing things that way. If you're looking for that kind of story, you should probably look elsewhere.
@fascist_puncher@TinyMouseKit@DStarblood @Otro_spy_main I mean, it's far more grey in totality but when someone is murdering people irl, it's considered pretty universally bad. Some things are just too evil.
This story contains elements similar to dark comedy, where tonally those lines get blurred.
@DStarblood@fascist_puncher@TinyMouseKit @Otro_spy_main Shift the actual mcs to the background. It'd also massively change the tone of the story to justify it. If that's a story you'd prefer, that's fair. But it's also a goofily proportioned and severely unrealistic plot that has been massively tongue in cheek with its dark comedy.
@DStarblood@fascist_puncher@TinyMouseKit @Otro_spy_main Fair enough. Lily is a static character arc. She's designed not to be the focal point of the narrative, but instead to be what warps Nino and Lyle's arcs around her. If she got a clue, the story would warp around her and the amount if attention that would 1/2
@fascist_puncher@TinyMouseKit@DStarblood @Otro_spy_main Not really? It's fiction. Things are not as black and white as they are in reality. It's not crazy to defend her because she's not real. I wouldn't defend someone who's actually operating by those rules irl.
@DStarblood@Muhnykins Is it a regression? Nino didn't hate her eating people or feel bad about the act of it all. Just that it was Lyle. This is an assassin who was trying to kill her. The circumstances don't really equate.
@fsoidgnsihnrs@theserfstv There's no condoning violence, if you ask me. But to act like a common psychological response to being bullied and battered and broken by an entire country isn't going to be rage is naive at best.
@fsoidgnsihnrs@theserfstv When a small group of people face violent persecution for the crime of 'being alive', some people within that group will react with rage and violence.
If one wants to solve that, they can do so easily by not persecuting them to begin with.
