No wonder kakamega is performing poorly on health indicators. @BarasaFernandes such characters will just taint your image. We will demonstrate and picket at his office until he understands that he is supposed to be a servant of the people and not their lord.
UNBECOMING CONDUCT OF THE CHIEF OFFICER IN KAKAMEGA
This is the Chief Officer for medical services in kakamega county.
Clinical Officers conducted a peaceful procession to petition the county officials on the prolonged strike.
The Chief Officer came out hurling insults at professionals arrogantly dismissing them as 'small people' who he can't address, assaulting and threatening officials.
It seems this culture is taking root, first was Makueni and now Kakamega.
Any manager or leader who cannot control emotions is a liability to their institution.
@BarasaFernandes should fire this 'all important chief'.
All Clinical Officers in Kakamega will remain on strike and will continue demonstrating in line with article 37.
@kUCOofficial CONDEMNS THE BRUTAL ATTACK ON CLINICAL OFFICERS IN MAKUENI**
The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers condemns in the strongest terms the brutal attack on Clinical Officers peacefully exercising their constitutional and labour rights in Makueni County on 8 September 2026, despite prior notification to the police.
One Clinical Officer suffered a serious humeral shaft fracture requiring surgery, while several others sustained injuries. Even more disturbing, despite reports that the suspected attackers and alleged organiser are known and identifiable, no arrests have been made. This is unacceptable.
We call upon @NPSOfficial_KE@DCI_Kenya@IPOA_KE@IAU_Kenya@ODPP_KE@hakiKNCHR to urgently investigate the attack, secure CCTV and digital evidence, protect victims and witnesses, and establish who planned, financed, facilitated, participated in or protected those responsible.
Serious allegations touching on County officials must equally be investigated ndependently, impartially and without interference. No office, title or political connection places anyone above the law.
We further call upon @GvnMutula@OfficialMakueni to act decisively. Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr., himself an Advocate of the High Court and a constitutional office holder, cannot through silence or inaction be seen to condone, tolerate or superintend lawlessness. His office must stand unequivocally on the side of the Constitution, the rule of law and the protection of workers.
The Governor must condemn the attack, guarantee the safety of Clinical Officers and ensure that legitimate labour grievances are addressed through dialoguenot intimidation, violence or organised brutality.
Violence will not resolve a labour dispute.
Intimidation will not silence Clinical Officers.
Impunity will not be tolerated.

URGENT PUBLIC ALERT: WHERE IS CHRISTIN WANJIRU?
For purposes of public record, accountability and pursuit of justice, the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) wishes to bring to the attention of Kenyans and relevant State and human-rights institutions the disturbing circumstances surrounding the reported arrest and subsequent disappearance from known police custody of Christin Wanjiru, a Clinical Officer serving under the County Government of Kajiado.
KUCO has received information that Christin was arrested by police officers and taken to Kitengela Police Station, where she was allegedly detained without being promptly informed of the reasons for her arrest.
More disturbing, the Union subsequently received information that she was removed from Kitengela Police Station and picked up in the Subaru vehicle appearing in the attached photograph.
Her destination and current whereabouts are unknown.
This raises extremely serious constitutional and legal questions.
OCS KITENGELA POLICE STATION: WHERE IS CHRISTIN WANJIRU?
The police must immediately account for:
▪️ Why was Christin arrested?
▪️ Was her arrest and detention formally booked and recorded?
▪️ What was the OB/reference entry relating to her arrest and detention?
▪️ Who were the arresting officers?
▪️ Who authorised her removal from Kitengela Police Station?
▪️ Was she formally released or transferred?
▪️ To whom was she handed over?
▪️ Where was she being taken?
▪️ Who currently has custody of her?
▪️ Is Christin Wanjiru safe?
Article 49 of the Constitution of Kenya guarantees an arrested person the right to be promptly informed of the reason for arrest and to communicate with an advocate and other persons whose assistance is necessary.
Further, Article 244 of the Constitution demands professionalism, discipline, transparency and accountability from the National Police Service.
A Kenyan citizen cannot simply be arrested, held at a police station and thereafter be removed from known police custody without the responsible authorities being able to account for who took her, where she was taken and under whose lawful authority.
If Christin was lawfully transferred to another police station, investigative agency or other lawful custody, that information must be disclosed immediately.
KUCO therefore calls upon @NPSOfficial_KE@PoliceKE@DCI_Kenya@InteriorKE@IPOA_KE and @IAU_Kenya to urgently establish and disclose Christin Wanjiru's whereabouts and ensure her safety.
We further call upon @HakiKNCHR@LawSocietyofKe@AmnestyKenya@thekhrc@DefendersKe and @ODPP_KE to urgently intervene, document this matter and demand accountability from all officers and agencies involved.
To members of the public:
This is no longer merely a question about an arrest but fidelity to the law.
IT IS A QUESTION OF WHERE A KENYAN CITIZEN IS AFTER BEING LAST REPORTED IN POLICE CUSTODY.
The National Police Service is constitutionally required to protect life, liberty and human dignity and to remain accountable to the people of Kenya.
CHRISTIN WANJIRU MUST BE ACCOUNTED FOR IMMEDIATELY.
WHERE IS CHRISTIN WANJIRU?
WHO TOOK HER FROM KITENGELA POLICE STATION?
UNDER WHOSE AUTHORITY?
WHERE IS SHE NOW?
THE POLICE MUST ACCOUNT NOW.

Peterson Wachira: Our biggest weakness is at the county level, where there is an expectation of the highest standards of healthcare. However, many counties are unable to take our healthcare workers back for specialization because of the burden of their salaries while they train at national health facilities #CitizenDayBreak
