Kurds are not outsiders. They have lived in that land for thousands of years and are indigenous to the region. If you don’t know that basic history, you should educate yourself before commenting #Iran#Kurds#Israel
This is insane. A week ago, the Trump was giving the longest state of the union address ever, and had not a word to say about any of this. Now he’s doing a regime change war, arming foreign forces, assassinating a head of state, without any congressional approval or public debate
Germany supports the Jan 29 agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF, and encourages its implementation for peace and security in Syria, underlined @AussenMinDE in a meeting with @MazloumAbdi in Munich.
The decision to turn over the U.S. Al-Tanf military base to the Syrian government is extremely risky given the recent behavior of the Al-Sharaa government.
Regional stability & American security are on the line. We need to get this right.

During Tuesday’s @HouseForeignGOP hearing, @nadinemaenza informed Congress that Turkey’s President Erdoğan is seeking to restore the Ottoman Empire all the way to Jerusalem and beyond. This is important because President Erdoğan is closely connected to Syria's current leader, al-Sharaa. The recent horrific treatment of religious minorities in Syria, including Christians, Druze, Alawites, and Kurds, makes this witness testimony critical. If Turkey continues cheering what is happening in Syria with the extermination of those not in line with an Islamic (Jihad-minded) state, we are looking at a powder keg waiting to explode. If this happens, Israel and the 750,000 U.S. citizens living within its midst will be the next target. The extermination of religious minorities in Syria must TRULY BE AT AN END, or Congress must act by reimposing sanctions!!!
America must act swiftly to rebuild our leverage over al-Sharaa, including by reimposing sanctions to pressure the Syrian government to protect minorities; pull back its campaign against the SDF; and crack down on any resurgence of ISIS.
Time is of the essence.

.@RepMikeLawler: The United States lifted sanctions on Syria to give al-Sharaa a chance to prove where he stands, despite his terrorist ties.
Those conditions were not met, and the trajectory of Syria under al-Sharaa is deeply concerning.
I made it clear in my testimony: ISIS is rising again—but on previous visit, people in NE Syria weren’t seeing extremism growing inside their communities like before.
You can’t beat extremism with weapons alone. You beat it by building inclusive societies.
And the record matters: the SDF have not killed Americans—Syrian security forces killed 2 U.S. service members and a U.S. interpreter in December.
Truth matters.
Syria can only succeed by healing deep sectarian divisions—and prioritizing social cohesion. There is much the country can learn from the NE.
We stand with the Kurds of Syria.
They paid an immense price for their courage. For years, they stood at the forefront of the fight against ISIS for our shared security. They were our allies against terrorists that enslaved women and beheaded people.
We can’t abandon the Kurds.

@RepAbeHamadeh Will you speak up for the Kurds in Syria? They defeated ISIS and made America safer. U.S. safety is not only about the border. Abandoning the Kurds means empowering jihadist groups again.
@RepAbeHamadeh Sir, will you support the Save the Kurds Act? You have said nothing about the violence against Kurds in Syria by the interim government.

Sens. @LindseyGrahamSC and @SenBlumenthal announce bipartisan “Save the Kurds Act.”
In an interview with @RudawEnglish yesterday, Sen. Blumenthal said the U.S. has an obligation to protect Kurdish partners in Syria from retaliation and urged stronger action to defend civilians amid ongoing attacks.
Today, @SenBlumenthal and I introduced the Save the Kurds Act.
I believe that there is strong bipartisan support for the idea of protecting the Kurds in Syria and beyond because they have been such a reliable ally to the United States. The SDF – with a large Kurdish element – took the brunt of the fight to defeat ISIS in President Trump’s first term.
I realize Syria is complicated culturally, ethnically and politically. However, attacking the Kurds greatly diminishes the United States’ standing and will hinder Syria’s ability to grow as a country.
To those countries or groups who believe it is open season on the Kurds in Syria without consequence, you will be sadly mistaken.

🚨 Urgent plea by Dr. Qanta Ahmed to President Trump:
Ground Ambassador Tom Barrack now.
He's single-handedly unraveling Trump’s great foreign policy achievements.
The American people need to pay attention to what happening right now.
