Your first investment isn’t a stock.

Most people think wealth is built through big decisions.
In reality, it’s built through thousands of tiny decisions repeated for decades.
That’s the power and danger of compounding.

A man spends ₹50 on chai every day.
Sounds harmless, right?
But that one habit could cost him over ₹ 50 Lakh
Not because chai is expensive.
Because most people underestimate the cost of small daily decisions.
Here’s the math. 🧵
₹𝟒.𝟑 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
In H1 CY2026, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) invested a record ₹𝟒.𝟑 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 into Indian equities across 106 trading sessions - averaging nearly ₹𝟒,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐞 every trading day.
What makes this remarkable?
• FPIs sold equities worth ₹𝟐.𝟖 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 - the largest H1 outflow on record.
• DIIs not only absorbed the selling but helped prevent a deeper market correction.
• Active equity mutual funds contributed ₹1.5 trillion of net inflows, up from ₹1.4 trillion last year.
• Mutual funds invested ₹2.7 trillion into listed stocks.
• Despite this, June equity MF inflows fell 40% MoM to a 12-month low of ₹22,908 crore.
One thing is clear that Indian markets are increasingly being driven by domestic savings, not foreign flows.

📌 The lesson:
Herd mentality feels safest when prices are rising.
But that’s often when risk is highest.
As investors, our job isn’t to follow the crowd.
Our job is to follow the numbers.
“The crowd is usually most confident near the top and most fearful near bottom”

Raj never bought.
Not because the business was bad.
Because the valuation was irrational.
He understood a key principle:
A great company doesn’t always mean a great investment.
