This is day 51 of the search for Sebastian Rogers. Please keep sharing. He could be anywhere. Children do not simply vanish. I keep saying this because it’s important to remember.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has four people in custody in connection to the disappearance of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley.

I am hearing that arrests MAY have been made in the case of #missing Kansas women in Oklahoma, #JillianKelley and #VeronicaButler.
This is not officially confirmed. More to come. A source extremely close to the case is claiming they are working to get more information ASAP. Praying.
@901Lulu Not sure if I can watch this one as a survivor of a very similar man who thankfully is no longer on this planet
I have freedom now where this woman doesn't & it breaks my heart
No bridge is designed to have the size of the bridge hit it
95,000 TONS -- TONS! 190,000,000 lbs!!
82 ft depth to get thru the route & not run aground
This is also why we needed an infrastructure bill.

"'The vessel went dead, no steering power and no electronics,' said an officer aboard the ship Tuesday. 'One of the engines coughed and then stopped. The smell of burned fuel was everywhere in the engine room and it was pitch black.' The ship didn’t have time to drop anchors to stop drifting, the officer said."

Hi! Bridge Engineer here, no bridge in the world is designed to have a giant cargo ship the size of the bridge itself hit one of its main structural members dead on. Hope this helps!
Just adding a little context to this incident.
I do not know what mode of propulsion this vessel has. However, with no tugboat attached and having local port authority pilots onboard, I will guess the Power Management System (PMS) and Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) are fairly newish technologies. Probably DP3 or DP2. Maybe either Kongsberg or GE control systems.
When we see a ship go dark, this happens when all main power generators trip offline. Either the engine(s) shutdown or the main breaker trips but leaves the engine running. There are a large number of scenarios, all legitimate, that could cause this type of failure. The ship owner and crew are required to test a certain specific minimum number of failure modes, but it is not practical to test every possible scenario.
When all power is lost, the control system will typically be designed to prioritize getting power back to propulsion as quick as possible. During the time from power/propulsion loss to the time the ship operator (DP Operator under the command of the Master) has propulsion control again can be over one minute. Maybe longer if the original failure is such that it impacts additional systems.
Example: The ship propulsion control system low voltage is powered by/through a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). UPS’s require periodic testing and battery replacement. When the ship lost power, then we see it regain power, it is common to also lose a UPS or two because the batteries cannot supply enough power for the initial current inrush.
For laymen; The ship does not have brakes. The ship is also has a huge amount of mass. Just watch big ships plowing into docks on YouTube.
I’ve been on vessels when this happens while being the person on board responsible for keeping the “lights on”. It’s not a good feeling.
A likely scenario: Leaving port. Likely was able to perform engine maintenance while in port. One maybe two engines online. Both connected to either the same Buss or separate buses connected by tie breaker. Engine trips offline, maybe due to incomplete or incorrect maintenance. Propulsion is lost. Control system goes into recovery. Operator switches to joystick mode while waiting for propulsion control. Propulsion is restored too late. Erratic movement prior to hitting the bridge is likely caused by joystick mode, which is crazy hard to control in that situation.
I've been involved with ships for 30 years.
From watching that video, they lost their main engines, diesel generators started up which would not give them propulsion but would give them access to power to drop the anchors.
Anchors turned ship into beam
