The operation is aimed at disrupting criminal activity, enforcing compliance, and restoring order through heightened law enforcement visibility across key areas of the city.
The building has been disconnected by City Power due to an outstanding amount of R2, 9 million. It is also plagued by severe maintenance and safety issues, including poor upkeep, non-functioning lifts, peeling paint, structural neglect, unsafe fire escapes, broken windows, overcrowding, and limited ventilation. These conditions significantly endanger the health and safety of the occupants.

During patrols #JMPD TRU officers spotted a white Honda Brio without number plates driving recklessly at Eloff & Wemmer Jubilee Rd. When officers attempted to stop it, passengers fled on foot & the driver sped off.
A chase ensued. The vehicle was intercepted at Von Brandis Street in Joburg.
The driver falsely claimed to be a JMPD officer & upon investigation, it was discovered that he is a former JMPD officer. The officers searched him & his vehicle & found an iPhone in his possession. The officers who chased the males who fled on foot came to the scene with a victim, he alleged he was kidnapped & robbed by suspects posing as officers. He positively identified the suspect & the phone.
The suspect was arrested for common robbery, reckless & negligent driving, impersonating Police officers & defeating the ends of justice. He was detained at JHB Central SAPS.
