Paying taxes is a civic duty that enables Government to provide essential public services, invest in infrastructure and drive national development towards Vision 2030. The Ministry of Finance in collaboration with ZIMRA, conducted a Tax Education Campaign across Mashonaland West Province, covering Kariba, Hurungwe and Zvimba districts.
As we come to the end of the National Tax Education Campaign, which has been running across the country since last year, the programme has recorded notable successes in raising awareness on tax compliance and civic responsibility. Encouragingly, ZIMRA recorded an increase in new tax registrations towards the end of last year, reflecting growing public appreciation of the role taxes play in national development.
Taxes play a critical role in financing infrastructure development, healthcare, education, water and sanitation services and social protection programmes among others. Every compliant taxpayer contributes towards building an empowered and prosperous upper-middle-income society by 2030.
In Kariba, tax-funded investments are supporting key projects such as the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project, housing developments, water and sewer infrastructure upgrades, schools, clinics and markets. These projects improve livelihoods, create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
In Hurungwe and Karoi, development initiatives include road rehabilitation, support for SMEs and women-led businesses, construction of a Teachers’ College and modern market infrastructure. In Zvimba, investments in community halls, primary & secondary schools and hospitals are improving access to essential services and enhancing community development.
The Tax Education Campaign sought to promote voluntary tax compliance and enhance public understanding of how taxes contribute to national development.
Together, citizens, businesses and Government can strengthen service delivery and accelerate Zimbabwe’s journey towards an empowered upper-middle-income society.
The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion joined His Excellency Dr. E.D.Mnangagwa and the nation in celebrating National Youth Day at Igava Training Centre in Marondera. IMF MEETINGS
The Zimbabwe delegation had fruitful deliberations with the World Bank yesterday, where the Bank discussed the partnership, pledging more support even as Government works on coming to an agreement on the SMP with the IMF. Applauding the prudent fiscal and monetary policies, World Bank Regional Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa Mr. Ndiame Diop said it was critical that Zimbabwe moves to the step of the dialogue, which is implementation of the SMP, a critical step towards arrears clearance.
Zimbabwe’s partnership with the World Bank recently resulted to the signing of one of the best Energy Compact Agreements in New York. This is expected to boost Zimbabwe’s energy sector through its focus on enhancing the energy value chain.
The meeting also discussed the job agenda, whose focus is to create dialogue on the support of key sectors such as manufacturing, mining and agriculture for job creation. Soon the World Bank and Zimbabwe will start work on a job strategy to prioritise and support the priority job enablers, enhance skills, transport systems and digital technologies needed to succeed.
Some of the country’s key macro-fiscal and monetary achievements include relative economic stability, a stable exchange rate, reduction of month-on-month inflation averaging 0.5%, increase in the current account surplus and reserves as well as operating on a strict cash budget.
Everybody always talks about how difficult it is for a woman to be pregnant
Nobody talks about the financial strain & emotional torture a man goes through when his woman is pregnant
He has to budget for the baby's arrival while dealing with constant craving demands from the pregnant woman
He literally becomes an errand boy and at the same time a therapist. That time he's expected to go for more than a year without sex, yet for a man, sex is a basic need
Men go through difficulty too during pregnancy, it's just that their difficulties are undermined
