The #NationalMeans-cum-MeritScholarshipScheme (#NMMSS) opens a path for economically weaker sections to complete their secondary education.📚✨

🔹 2,38,245 students selected through merit exams received fresh & renewal scholarships worth ₹286 crs in 2025–26, @₹12,000 per student per year for four years upto Class 12 based on merit.

🔹 Over the last 5 years (2021–22 to 2025–26), 12,32,412 students have continued their education beyond Class VIII through NMMSS, backed by an investment of ₹1,467 crs.

🔹 NMMSS is creating global opportunities—56 students, the majority being NMMSS scholars, were selected for the Sakura Science Programme 2026 in Japan, showcasing their excellence in science and communication.

🔹 27 States/UTs achieved 100% utilization of their fresh scholarship quota in 2025–26, up from 23 States/UTs in the previous year—ensuring wider access to deserving students.

From supporting education to unlocking global exposure, NMMSS continues to empower young talent and strengthen the vision of #NEP2020.

"Towards a Tobacco-Free Generation: The School Rally Challenge" launched nationwide by Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, on June 11, 2025. Aims at raising awareness among school students about the harmful effects of tobacco and substance abuse.

Highlights:

• 17,000+ schools participated across 545 districts in 36 States/UTs.
• Student-led activities strengthened the implementation of #ToFEI.
• Winning schools were felicitated on 29 May 2026.
• #NashaMuktVidyalaya Portal was launched to implement DoSEL's Three-Year Action Plan (2026–2029) towards #NashaMuktBharat.

With school enrolment rising to 24.72 crore, improvements in Net Enrolment Ratio across all stages, a Gender Parity Index of 1.0, and enhanced infrastructure, the impact of the policy is visible across the country.

A two-day Orientation & Capacity Building Workshop for the 32nd National Children's Science Congress 2026–27 (#NCSC) was held at #KVS ZIET Gwalior on 16–17 July 2026, led by Joint Commissioner (Acad.) Sh. Somit Shrivastav, with representatives from all 25 KVS ROs participating.

The School Management Committee (SMC) Guidelines, launched on May 6, 2026, supersede all earlier SMC guidelines and align school governance with the vision of #NEP2020.

Key highlights:
✅ Single SMC from Balvatika to Grade 12
✅ Headed by a Parent as the Chairperson of the Committee, with 75% parent/guardian representation and at least 50% women members
✅ 3-year School Development Plan with annual sub-plans
✅ Stronger community participation, transparency and accountability
✅ Convergence with flagship initiatives across departments

Together, these reforms will foster holistic child development and strengthen community-led school governance for improved learning outcomes.

Department of School Education & Literacy is embedding sustainability into everyday classroom learning through #EcoClubs4MissionLiFE, reinforcing the vision of #NEP2020...Every child is thus being empowered to become a responsible steward of the environment.

Aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE 2023), @ncert has introduced new textbooks for Grades 1–8 that integrate environmental concerns as a cross-cutting theme across subjects. To further strengthen environmental awareness, the textbooks are being enriched with the Mission LiFE logo, Prakriti mascot and QR code explaining Mission LiFE, enabling school students to adopt environmentally responsible behaviour from an early age.
