"The President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has facilitated N500million worth of infrastructural projects to the proposed Muhammad Kamaldeen University, Ogidi, Ilorin, Kwara State. The official foundation laying ceremony of one of the projects, the university hospital, the construction of which was already ongoing, was performed yesterday at the permanent site of the institution in Ogidi area of Ilorin metropolis."

"The Baba Adini of Ansarul-Islam Society of Nigeria, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has pledged his total support towards the rapid growth of the Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University, Ilorin, in Kwara State.

To live up to his words, Dr. Saraki granted a four-year full scholarship to 100 students while also donating projects worth millions of naira towards the infrastructural development of the institution.

The Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate made the donation on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the official commissioning of the private university owned by the Ansar-ul-Islam Society of Nigeria.

According to a statement in Ilorin, by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, N140m was donated towards the four-year full scholarship of 100 student-beneficiaries while another donation of N26m was made to provide different facilities in the university."

When government buys Nigerian, it invests in Nigerians.

That is why I welcome the directive that ministries, departments, and agencies should purchase their vehicles from licensed local assemblers.

This takes me back to June 2016, when the 8th Senate passed a bill to amend the Public Procurement Act, making a preference for Nigerian-made goods mandatory. At the heart of that effort was a simple but significant change in Section 34: replacing “may” with “shall”.

We believed then, as I still do now, that public spending must help build domestic prosperity. When we buy what we produce, we support jobs, reduce pressure on foreign exchange, and give manufacturers the confidence to invest, expand, and employ more people.

I hope that this directive will be consistently implemented and its underlying principle embraced across every arm of government.

Ask those who have known him for several years, and they will speak of his generosity. Ask those who are meeting him for the first time, and they will tell you of his accessibility and his concern for the welfare of families across Kwara State. It is in these everyday acts of service that his impact is most keenly felt.

That is the Kale I know, and this is why I am proud to stand with him.

Today, I join his family, friends and our party faithful in celebrating the Dan Iyan of Ilorin and our governorship candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial elections on his birthday.
