Latest figures show highest number of big money divorce and separation cases in Ireland. 11.5 % increase year on year and numbers have almost doubled since 2020. @shanephelanindo reports and quotes my analysis of new figures "“we are seeing more and more big money cases, many of which have assets in excess of €10m, €20m or €30m,” “The creation of wealth in recent years has led to this increase, as well as the sale of companies to foreign investors.”
While many cases are from Dublin, he said, there have been plenty of big money cases from Cork, Limerick, Galway, Donegal and other parts of the country" "many Circuit Court cases now involve assets valued between €1m and €2.5m.

Irish courts taking 3 times longer to decide cases than the Council of Europe average as highlighted by Law Society Justice Indicators research is a special problem in family law and domestic violence law where temporary orders can continue for years in some cases. Very well written article on this problem by Peter Paul Jones B.L. in this edition of the Bar Review, while I might take a different approach, the article is thought provoking, accurate and forces us to re-examine the system we work in. Essential reading.
