His MiG-21 was hit by a Pakistani missile, forcing him to eject behind enemy lines.

He landed safely but was captured by Pakistani forces after ejecting over territory under their control.

Reports stated that after being captured he was shot at point blank range, a brutal act against a pilot who had already ejected and was in enemy custody.

Yet the enemy could capture his body, not his honour he never betrayed his nation or surrendered the loyalty of an Indian Air Force Officer.

He returned to his motherland as a Martyr, honoured with the Vir Chakra, posthumously. 🇮🇳
