So, if #Ukraine were to #crown a symbolic figurehead, what are the options other than genetically engineering the Skoropadskys out of extinction? In fact, there are some. Let’s look at the first one: Count Gregor Razumovsky, the descendant of the last #Hetman of Ukraine. 🧵

Count Rozumovsky often visits Ukraine despite all the risks. He has friends and supporters and promotes his family legacy, which he fully bequeaths to the Ukrainian nation.

Under Kyrylo’s hetmanship, Ukraine was Europeanised, and the cities such as Baturyn and #Hlukhiv had a Western feel, with French parks, balls, tea parties, coffee houses, prospering trade, arts and crafts. A Western-style university was planned.

The Rozumovskys are sometimes criticised for their pro-imperial opportunism and failure to thwart the destruction of Ukraine’s autonomy. But there is so much more to this wonderful family, like this beautiful church in #Kozelets.
