I demoed Gemini Intelligence on Google's prototype, screen-equipped smart glasses. I was told to ask Google Nano Banana to take my selfie and then "put me on the moon"
The AI put me on the moon and also made me look more white
Just look at my face. It's completely different
I tried out Google and Xreal's Project Aura XR smart glasses. They're kinda legit. The 70-degree FOV makes a huge difference. Hand tracking is mostly solid (some bugginess) and playing Demeo in AR was genuinely very cool
I also got some pics of the compute/battery puck, which is roughly the size of the Vision Pro's battery puck

Xbox earnings today. While we have made progress expanding the business and our margins, player and revenue growth has not yet met our ambition. We know we have work to do to earn every player today and into the future.
Our Steam Controller review is live and it’s good:
🎮 If you don’t mind mapping custom controls for pretty much every PC game
💪Also it’s not as bulky as it looks in photos.
🔋Battery is excellent too

Our new series about wearables is live! I'm going to be digging into weird gaming wearables from Razer and HP soon enough, plus more on Pebble smartwatches and gaming on Apple Vision Pro. Stay tuned!
.@KyleBarr5 did some digging and it turns out those incredible iPhone 17 Pro Max photos of Earth taken by the Artemis II astronauts were shot with... the 18-megapixel front camera, according to NASA's EXIF data?!
That's so wild!

.@dankuntz just stopped by Gizmodo to show us the Starboy
Fun lil toy if you like fun lil toys
You can flip the finger to it and the Starboy’s eyes will get angry lol
I explicitly asked Nintendo if their statement to media was meant to imply digital games were getting cheaper. They did not reply.
The fact is, Nintendo is simply making physical games cost more. Digital games are not cheaper.
Do not expect cheaper games.
Nintendo are trying to present it as digital games getting cheaper but in reality they are probably revising their unannounced prices upwards to line up with their new variable pricing strategy.
In the end it will likely be a price increase for fans of physical media IMO.
So we got a response from Nintendo about this whole "new Nintendo published digital titles exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 will have an MSRP that is different from physical versions":
"The cost of physical games is not going up.
This means that when Nintendo sells digital versions of Nintendo published games exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 to consumers in the U.S., those prices will have an MSRP that is lower than their physical counterparts.
Retail partners set their own prices for physical and digital games, and pricing for each title may vary."
It's a very confusing statement that is only bound to confuse the messaging. But it does break down to all of the below being "true:"
1. New Switch 2 digital and physical games will have different prices
2. Switch 2 digital games will cost less than physical versions
3. Physical Switch 2 games will cost more than digital versions
4. Nintendo is not hiking up physical game prices
LOL, just LOL

To think that if execs and billionaire CEO’s at Epic took even the slightest pay cut, it would be likely that pivotal, hard working devs like Evan, could keep on making a living doing incredible work that makes games better for us all.
Devs deserve so much more than this.
My 12” MacBook vs. 13” MacBook Neo
The MacBook Neo is without question the better laptop for performance and and value at $600
The 12” MacBook is without a question the more portable laptop. It wasn’t fast, but man was it a perfect travel companion. I took mine on trips all over the world across the U.S., Canada, Asia, and Europe
@ReactsYork Hey man, I watched your video and thought you still had a few interesting points. I'm writing an article for Gizmodo with some of the more informed reactions to DLSS 5. If you wanna talk, feel free to hit me up here or on Discord.
Nintendo's Talking Flower is annoying as hell. We love it.
You gotta admire a company like Nintendo who just does its own thing and puts out stuff like this $35 "Talking Flower" toy that just randomly shouts out things every 30 minutes or so. It also shouts out the time.
It's been annoying the hell out of everyone at the Gizmodo office but in the most delightful way
Thank god for a company that still has whimsy

We're not done with Apple reviews this week. Lots more to come @gizmodo including this M4 iPad Air review by @KyleBarr5. This tablet can play Resident Evil 4 much better than on an M3 iPad Air
💪M4 chip is a big performance boost
🎮Actually good for games
🔆Sharp, bright Liquid Retina display
📶 Fast 5G from C1X modem
🔊Good stereo speakers
✏️Only supports Apple Pencil Pro & Pencil USB-C (not Pencil 2nd gen)
🪫Middling battery life
🤑Price balloons fast when you add Magic Keyboard + Apple Pencil
But do you pay $599 for just an M4 iPad Air or $599 for a MacBook Neo, which has a bigger 13-inch screen and keyboard and trackpad? https://t.co/dhjGZQ0x7r
Our MacBook Neo review is live on @Gizmodo. @KyleBarr5 put the $600 laptop through its paces:
👍Sturdy aluminum design
🌈Fun colors
💻Great Retina display
💪A18 Pro chip performance is decent
☑️No app compatibility probs
🎱8GB RAM is more than sufficient for
browsing/streaming
⌨️Good keyboard and multi-touch trackpad
🔊Solid speakers
🔋6-8hrs of real battery life
🎮 Not great for gaming unless Apple Arcade
🔌 Slow charging (from USB 3/2-speed USB-C ports)
💵 Affordable, starting at $600
Yep, the budget PC/Chromebook market is about to get disrupted
