@DanielJHannan We’ve got to get beyond this thing of being in hock to our credit card statements. We’re not going to let the consequences of our spending dictate what we do all the time.
@nickmacco@catholicpat There is a strong tradition of Anglican devotion to the Dominican rosary, especially since the early 1900s. The traditional St Augustine’s prayer book contains it, plus lots of other high church devotions. If you can find a copy, I highly recommend it.
@sunriseoath@redeemed_zoomer True; Insofar as retribution is justified, it is undertaken by the state. There is more overlap than I stated, but that’s because my point was about Christ’s command to forgive. The state’s duty to justice would not cease to exist if everyone became saintly in forgiveness.
@AtheistTakes What if part of His devine plan was us praying in the first place?
And what’ll really cook your brain when you realize God exists: this is true of anything else we do, too.
@jeff_of_norwich That would be true if it weren’t for the tax breaks. What pensions demonstrate is how onerous taxes really are on private individuals’ ability to save; that the poor investment products available in pensions with fewer taxes are still a better option.
Y’all, this is very good. If you’ve spent hours watching and reading anger and hate, these six minutes can really help you. These words are like medicine.
@MattsIdeaShop Absolutely pray for them. Pray for the perpetrator too. Earnestly. Christ is very clear on this. The man should receive a just and severe punishment, but if we allow hate into our own hearts, we join the perpetrator on the side of the devil.
