We are Orthodox Christians. Marriage is a sacrament of the church and it is permanent unless your priest and Bishop finds that the circumstances are extreme enough that it is not safe or conducive to salvation to be married anymore. Things like abuse, abandonment, insanity, etc. if you are a secular atheist or something then yeah it’s just a glorified roommate contract. That means nothing. I don’t know why you would even bother.
