Iโm angry. And I think anger is the right emotion for this moment. The way we treat one another, other human beings deserving of dignity and respect, is wrong. We can, and should, do better.
I really enjoyed this weekโs @wecandothisco podcast highlighting the work of seeing the good with @BrandenHarvey. Check it out: https://t.co/wfYkXAM2ks
a blessing for when there's no cure for being human
God, I feel it again, the burden of being human,
and the fact that nothing will exempt us
from the pain of it.
We have the resources and the ability to end poverty, hunger, and violence in many of its forms. We lack the courage and the vision to see a world that can be healthy, whole, and flourishing for all people. Most importantly, we need to care about others more than ourselves.
Things I did today cause the world is unconscionable:
1. Called my senators (NY)
2. Called the White House
3. Hardcore Music Throw Down
4. Wrote and submitted an opinion piece to @insidehighered
5. Rage
@stewartdantec Iโm currently researching the use of fiction for empathy development. When we can see ourselves in the complex stories of fiction, we can see ourselves in the humans we share space with everyday.
@meg_hartman Youโre right. There are so many doing good things. Theyโre out there, yet we have horses and whips driving refugees away and cages holding children. The tension of both/and is exhausting ๐
There is no claiming Christ while also dismissing immigrants. Get away from me with your bullshit Christianity, you resounding gongs and clanging symbols.
Seriously, a border should not dictate who is deserving of care. Our shared humanity should drive us towards compassion. Our fear dehumanizes to justify our hatred. This is anti-Christ and just plain evil.
