@harsh_vardhhan This is the wrong attitude to knowledge. Learning has value in it’s own right, learning a new language is always fulfilling, and useful if you’ll live in a country where it’s spoken. People now always claim lack of use as an excuse to themselves to avoid making an effort.
@faith_vtch Then winter hits with freezing temperatures for months. Someone who opened the door for 20 minutes letting all that hard earned heat escape would have been thrown outside.
@faith_vtch What do you mean you’ve never heard of ventilation. And of conserving heat. Heating your home is one of the most costly things people do. Money now. or historically your own energy.
People used to work all year to bunker up enough wood to warm their house in winter./
@Pirougemon@polidemitolog Why? Nobody forced you. The USA’s motives to doing so were self serving, to become a global superpower, military and financially. And NATO is a defense alliance.
@Legion681@visegrad24 But they did. Putting soldiers in the way may have prevented an invasion. Then the US would have to kill soldiers who did not attack them, from countries that were allies until that day. That’s a threshold and clearly the US is not prepared to do that yet.
Absolutely sick to death of hearing about how the new @louistheroux documentary has made people think about attitudes to women. Lots of MPs jumping on the bandwagon. I mean, no disrespect to Louis - I’m grateful for the highlight - but for God’s sake…
Women get killed by their partner every week. Tiny Man Tate has been a thing for years. Domestic violence shelters are overwhelmed. Women have been waving the red flags about incels and attitudes for years. We’ve been begging for change. We’ve been highlighting the serious threat of anti-women social media. Then a MAN makes a documentary and suddenly everyone’s interested? Do you not all think that this might be part of the problem?
@MadsDavies The pope agrees, but when women hold the same view suddenly it’s ”radical”? So called radical feminists don’t have radical opinions at all. Wanting an end to human trafficking and exploitation of women shouldn’t be considered radical.
@bart_e_anderson@Glenn_Diesen I don’t think people generally had that much money to spend on all the things we buy today before cars became mainstream affordable.
@Glenn_Diesen It’s so practical to take home furniture with the bike 😅 I biked to ikea many times for smaller things though, and they even have bikes with a loading platform that you can borrow.
@MarioNawfal Genetic sex testing sounds very scary, but it just means: "once in a life time, a cheek swap, taking 8 seconds max".
I think athletes who, for DOPING checks, have to pee within sight of officials EVERY MATCH, won't mind if this guarantees a safe and fair competition
@Lee__TX@cindymeah@sappholives83 Again, I find that hard to believe. How can the health care system allow that? Why don’t they just make it an early delivery in that case? And the mother can give the child up for adoption under any case.
@cindymeah@sappholives83 I find it hard to believe anyone would want that. If there is danger to the mother’s life late in the pregnancy, from illness or traumatic injury or otherwise, the baby is delivered early.
