@TantriPrasanna Most countries including China and Korea dramatically improved manufacturing competitiveness when their currencies moved both ways. Any currency going one way for decades will not make manufacturers competitive but complacent.

@RRPSpeaks I am a Kannadiga who built a factory in Pune. MSEDCL charged my company old dues which belonged to the adjacent land which we had nothing to do with. Otherwise they won’t give the connection. Arm twisting is normal for Maharashtra bureaucracy.

@1shankarsharma Lastly, whatever India spends on R&D, the output is suspect. Because, we don’t do things properly. We don’t make world beating things, we make things just enough to beat the existing competition- just to hold our fort. This eventually fails.

@1shankarsharma Secondly, it is the taxation. Most countries have R&D tax credits which are decided and given. India allows you to claim but may disallow the credit after few years on flimsy grounds. This doesn’t work.

@surjitbhalla So called decentralization is a mafia of rent seeking. Every layer of governance is a trouble and extractor. Unfortunately, this is not understood well.

@surjitbhalla It’s mainly the Indian thing that “if something is achieved, it has to be difficult “. Thus we have difficult rules for simple aspects of business. This makes the bar for success higher than other countries. India can succeed if this bar is lowered, by the governance system.

@soulrambler_ The society lacks Social self awareness- in simple terms awareness of how one’s behavior is judged according to the social norms. It is not impossible to imbibe it once the lack of it is accepted.

@krishan_sharmaa I think it is high time we reclaim our economy from the economists. There are problems, low hanging solutions are not fiscal or economic. They are societal. Indian society is much less productive than the required level to become wealthy.

@DivaJain2 Indian economy is screwed by the so called economists. Only mantra is wages, elevated exchange rates etc. There are bigger and more fundamental problems which are caused by our own systems. Economists can’t understand them, businessmen can.
