This was me as a teen & undergrad. Reading/writing were saved up for school breaks…until I had a quarter life crisis and spent every free minute reading and writing which has culminated in a PhD. Kids will find books again, but shouldn’t have to wait until adulthood.

This is just speculation, but I do wonder whether the student demographic that used to read the most now reads less because of the intense extra curricular schedule a lot of them take on/are encouraged to take on.
