Check out our latest effort to orient membrane proteins correctly into liposomes and boost ATP production. We took advantage of ionizable lipids and changed the liposome surface from positive to negative to make it work. @unibern@DCBPunibern

Very happy to share our latest work on the mechanism of the Membrane-Bound Superoxide Oxidase – now out in JACS! Thank you Högbom and von Ballmoos Labs for a nice collaboration & @KAWstiftelsen for supporting our work! https://t.co/sMRv9K77dp
A long journey coming to a happy end. Thank you, Robert Gennis and Sangjin Hong for Simone Graf and me to be part of this cool project. It is rare that you can purify a human protein fully active in a bacterium.

Alright everybody, what will undoubtedly forever be the lab's strangest discovery is now out in Nature. It's a protein that evolved to self-assemble into a Sierpinski fractal. https://t.co/zV5CDzbaGm 1/n

Thanks to Lea and all the others involved for the lovely collaboration and giving Philipp the possibility to support their findings with some giant vesicles. @DCBPunibern@unibern
This has been a long and winding road to see this finally published. Shoutouts to Andrea Amati and Stefan Moning @MoningStefan for never giving in. A special thanks goes to Sacha Javor @reymondgroup for his critical contribution in organic synthesis.
Further we show, using SpyTag/Catcher technology, how post-translational modification can be used to reconstitute light-driven proteorhodopsin in either direction. In co-reconstitution with ATP synthase, we show efficient light-driven ATP synthesis
