It’s only fitting that I celebrated #IndependenceDay in the City of Independence! More than 30,000 Oregonians turned out to watch the parade, and I enjoyed saying hello to so many of them. Hope everyone had a fun 4th!

No one benefits from an execution. Think of all the trauma to the prison officials, lawyers, jurors, friends and family of all involved. Is vengeance really worth the damage done? Life without the possibility of parole is less expensive and equally effective as the DP.

@Klemshaw69 @helenprejean I will never deny his horrendous actions. And the lifelong trauma he caused. The victims will suffer more than he will even with an execution. But there is no closure. Life without the possibility of parole keeps society safe and the victims familiales I know prefer this.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice has suspended visitation at all prisons in the state due to #COVID19 but still plans to proceed with an execution next week. The cruelty and brutality is staggering.
