My visual representation of the #SPFBO 8 contestants is live! Stop by and take a look at all of the beautiful covers this year. I'll keep the page updated as books are cut, selected as semi-finalists/finalists, etc.
Hope it's useful!

@metaphor_dead@BookMeanderings Yeah, if maybe you can capture the other person's mindset for a while. It facinates me how subjective books are. As a writer, I'm always trying to find the objective 'best' but I don't think there is such a thing.
@metaphor_dead@BookMeanderings Sanderson forever has my respect as a writer for getting me emotionally invested in pretend people doing pretend science in a pretend world in Rhythm of War.
@metaphor_dead@BookMeanderings I think his prose is on the plainer side, but he definitely gets good lines or good scenes in there. But really I read his stuff for the characters and the world building and plot twists, not the prowess of the sentences themselves.
@BookMeanderings Yeah, I like the scope of the worldbuilding but I don't need so much detail sometimes, either. I re-read the series a few months ago and just skipped parts I knew I didn't like as much and that was actually a lot of fun. Less meandering when you can pick the thread to follow. 😛
@jzpitts Ehh...yes and no? I built up my following thinking it would help me get an agent, and that didn't happen. There's a core group of people that typically see and like/comment on my stuff, and I think most of the rest it was a follow-for-follow thing. And I'm totally OK with that.
@LibraryOfAViki1 Happy Birthday! 🥳Looks like you already have a lot of books to choose from, but I still wanted to offer my epic fantasy for consideration as it's in the vein/inspired by of some of the authors on your shelf (Sanderson, Gwynne, Islington, etc). https://t.co/Uw3MEf6s3U
