@ZackPolanski Thank you for talking about this. When you can, please take a look at the relentless attacks on disabled people/benefits. @NoJusticeMTG has been doing good work recently in shouting loudly about this issue. Talk to her if you don't talk to anyone else. Go to DNS news too.
@PaulaCoyscot@McDivergence She will completely derail lessons over the smallest things, and the tutors/uni won't do anything about it due to "freedom of speech". She gets into rages over anything that makes her uncomfortable, or is challenging for her. E.g. she finds a concept hard, she will lose her shit.
@PaulaCoyscot@McDivergence So what this means is if you try to oppose her, she will not shut up until she's satisfied (she's never satisfied), and so people will get angry at you for telling her to e.g. "consider others", because its easier to yell at me than try to deal with her unhinged ranting.
@FrasierShoes@0121propicture@patmcfaddenmp Now an adult, this continues to be the bane of my life. It's only ever zero hours contracts that barely pay me. I had one place just "forget" several months in a row and there was nothing I could do about it. They will all say I do great work, but never give me a stable job.
@CurtisDaly_ A different cohort: but every time I've seen them talk about jobs for disabled people, its been factory work, manual labour, manufacturing. All jobs which are really not suitable for someone like me. They never go: "50k new WFH office roles for disabled people up for grabs", lol.
@Shrink_at_Large I was able to hand in my final project @ uni early, giving me *just* enough time to reply to the call for evidence. It made me so angry they did this right at dissertation/finals time. My official deadline is the same day the consultation ends.
@Nelli337@PaulaCoyscot We didn't have a trans person in our student cohort but that didn't stop her flying off the handle about things at the slightest provocation. Everything that made her uncomfortable was a trigger for this. Essays, subjects, "lefties" - didn't matter. She'd rage at it all.
@Nelli337@PaulaCoyscot The "GenderCritical" person in my class @ uni always put me on edge with the constant boundary pushing she'd do in lessons. She flipped out sometimes too, like would go into rage fuelled rants. Tutors would do nothing, the uni would do nothing. It was a stressful year.
@GraceCaveney@PaulaCoyscot Yeah, it's going to suck, but I won't be able to be a bystander either. Just remember, in a crisis, bystanders often respond better if you give them a direct order e.g. "get security". Saying "help" won't get you very far on average cos ppl deflect responsibility to others.
@RITB_ I tell them to use them as examples for teaching ethics if they insist on keeping them. I got them making an exercise out of one of these types, where students had to work out what the ethical/professional violations in the dudes statements were 😆
@RITB_ If my uni knew how gross he was, they'd 110% remove him from the next edition of the psych materials. If I can find out who is doing the rewrite, I am absolutely sending them his tweets. I may have done this before, lol. I say they can only keep them if they expose their bigotry.
@windupgemma I got transvestigated at a hairdressers a few years ago because I had a punky hairstyle and had dyed it red. She said "no real woman would do this to themselves", to me. I am cìš, I just liked to have mad hair back then. It was such a weird and upsetting experience. I'm so sorry.
@jimthegiant Anyone working for Ian Duncan Smiths think-tank is untrustworthy in my opnion. I'm disabled. Labour and these ghouls do nothing but cause harm to people like me. https://t.co/bJUABwHv5K
@NoJusticeMTG Yep. They're coming after DSA, too (Access to Work but for disabled uni students). It's delightful. One of the ideas I had to use my psychology degree was to become a DSA tutor. They're going to cut those apparently. Every time I think I found a way out the DWP traps me again.
Excellent news!
So let's force a load of disabled & chronically ill people into a labour market that hasn't got a handle on mitigating against workplace burnout
Because there's nothing like immense stress to cure disability & chronic illness!
Labour are on the pulse as usual!
@JacobCollierMP You voted to cut LCWRA by half for new claimants + those being reassessed, then wrote to me about "fairness", while saying you'll get disabled people jobs, while cutting Access to Work and DSA at the same time, and hoped no-one would notice.
