"She had the most beautiful aura." This is how a friend of Sandra Dobrila remembers her mate.
Sandra, a 41-year-old customer service manager, was murdered in her home at Mordialloc, Victoria, on Thursday.
A male known to her ended his own life.
Sandra is the 89th of 92 Australian women killed this year – and she is one of four women lost to violence in a matter of days.
“She had the most beautiful aura about her, spreading love and kindness wherever she went,” her friend told me this afternoon.
“Sandra was always the first to check on everyone around her, making sure they were Ok.
"She was a beautiful, kind soul who didn’t deserve what happened to her.”
I cannot agree more with Sandra’s friend. Sandra deserved a long and peaceful life. She did nothing to deserve having her life ended by a violent male.
So many times this year, we’ve lost women to violence. This year’s tally is easily the worst I’ve seen in the more than nine years I’ve been documenting the killing of women and children.

'Named: Man charged with murder in sleepy coastal town' - I kid you not - this is a fucking headline about the murder of an elderly vulnerable woman.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

70-year-old Christine Barret is one of the 11 women killed across Australia in the past 17 days. But you'd never know it from the @dailytelegraph's report today.
Christine was killed between Thursday morning and Friday morning at her home in South West Rocks.
A male relative is now charged with her murder. Christine is the 80th of 81 Australian women killed this year.
In the usual fashion, journalists have no shame in erasing women from their stories about murdered women.
Instead of getting off their bottoms and doing some actual journalism - like speaking to Christine's loved ones or mates - journos are just smashing out clickbait which demeans and diminishes women.
Christine fucking mattered. She mattered so so much. Her life mattered. Her death matters. She fucking matters.

The fucking legal system really wants us to know how valuable womens lives are today - of all fucking days.
The bloke who killed Yuqi Luo and Hyun Sook Jeon in Melbourne just scored SEVEN years in jail. I kid you fucking not. And here's why - because the women were from Asia and hey were sex workers. This utter piece of filth bragged about hurting a sex worker to a mate before killing them. His term is 14 years with parole in 2031.
