About the 10 Fwy fire: Several pillars, which now might be unsound, were a compromise to spare buildings in LA's wholesale district in 1961.

2,125 pillars hold up about 3 miles of the 10 between the 5 and 110 Fwys. The freeway was expensive due to all the bridges supporting it.

The 1932 Games were a Games of firsts. First podiums, first medal ceremonies, and the first time the Games were held within 16 days, setting the standard for future Games.
