“They tell me ‘you gotta do straight hip-hop, it’s gonna translate better with your audience.’ Whatever the f*ck that means.”
At his ‘Cry Baby’ El Rey show Vince Staples shared some thoughts on his experiences in the music industry, namely the difficulties faced when wanting to experiment with different genres.
I see your profile picture. That’s Johnny Cash. My hero too. Arrested seven times. Smuggled 668 amphetamines across the Mexican border in 1965. Took every drug there was and drank like I did. Cheated on his first wife. Slept with more woman than I ever did. Hit bottom in a cave in Tennessee in 1968 trying to crawl off and die. And then he got up. He got clean. He spent the rest of his life singing for prisoners and addicts and the people the country threw away because he knew he was one of them.
That was the whole point of the Man in Black. He wore it for the poor and the beaten down. He wore it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime. He wore it for the ones who never heard a word of Jesus. He wore it for the addicted and the dying. He wore it as a standing witness that no one is past saving.
You picked his picture. You did not pick his message. Try listening to the words.
@OfTheAllegheny For crying out loud, would you take a second to smell the roses. The #Pirates are in second place. They have the fourth best record in the National League. It’s a time to be feeling good about them instead of bitching about them.
@aaronjames619@ctnyholm1@HunterBiden You’re a bitch bro. Hunter won’t say it but everybody knows it. Sad that your parents have to live every day knowing they raised a bitch
Glorification? There was zero glory in my addiction. It was truly the most excruciatingly humiliating and degrading experience you could possibly imagine. I wanted to commit suicide almost daliy, but didn’t have the courage for even that. Instead I’d reach for the pipe or the bottle. The cowards way out. The guilt. The shame. The hurt. The absolute misery of it. Yet here I am. And I am not alone. There are millions upon millions of us. We don’t all agree on politics or people or who we root for on Sunday. But we all have the shared experience of walking through that fire and surviving. I chose to live. That’s not a joke.
I want to discuss Yordany De Los Santos - give a read!
I talked a few weeks back about how he is my favorite prospect in the system. His approach at the plate and just the way he plays is phenomenal.
.302/.396/.616 is his slash line so far this season in Greensboro, with 7 home runs, 23 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases. OPS is fantastic at 1.012 and a 150 wRC+
What I am going to focus on as the summer approaches is his bat-to-ball skills. Just a 65.2% contact rate this year which is lower than I'd like for a guy who's hit tool I'm very high on. Little too much swing and miss as well, but at his age, I expect that to improve.
He's going to finish the year with 15-20 home runs at least, and maybe upwards of 40 stolen bases. For a lot of guys, speed and pop don't always mix, but he's got a great combination of them both. Only 6 doubles on the year but it could easily be more.
His swing is incredibly smooth. He doesn't try to do too much with the ball, which is actually what gives some of these other guys in Greensboro an issue, and takes the ball the other way as good as anyone. Good amount of his pop goes to right field.
He's seen his K% tick up a little this year, which corresponds with his contact rate. As he continues to see High-A pitching in his first year in Greensboro, as long as that trends in the right direction, I don't view that as much as a longer term concern. His BB% is a tick under 10%, which is just fine.
Things most Americans agree on:
Groceries cost too much.
Tariffs suck and make no sense.
Congress and Presidents shouldn’t trade stocks.
The debt is a mess.
The border should be secure, but legal immigration is good.
Endless wars are stupid, especially ones that nobody wants and have never been explained.
Americans are exhausted.
AI is like my new best friend that also might be trying to take my job, my ability to think for myself, and my humanity in the process. Yo like I love you, but WTF, but I still love you.
Diversity is actually awesome! The opposite is boring AF.
Canadians are super fucking cool.
Mexicans are chill.
Putin isn’t a good guy looking out for America’s best interest. Rocky IV and Miracle are great movies.
Good neighbors are a blessing.
Freedom of religion and coexistence without having to blow each other up is probably a good idea.
We all question, are we alone in the universe?
We all fuck up along the way.
Epstein didn’t hang himself.
The Trumps and Epstein were best friends for decades. It’s like Bert trying to tell us Ernie was just an acquaintance in the same social scene on Sesame Street back in the day.
The Cowboys suck. Go Birds!
Things we’re told to fight about:
Me.
Laptop.
Vaccines.
Transgenders in sports.
Pronouns.
That’s the joke.
I see Madden is fooling folks again. People are hyped they are adding things they either once had or should have added 10 years ago. Everything looks good until you press play. Will be the same dog shit slop with a focus on MUT.
