I'm loving this Lagos debate.
But one thing I know is - if it's important m, you'll do it.
GRV knew not speaking Yoruba fluently was one of his opposition's campaign tactics.
He had 4 years to learn it.
Why not do it? Yoruba is not that hard to speak fluently in 4 years.
Human presence in the Yorubaland region goes back over 13,000 years, as shown by the Iho Eleru remains. Proto-Yoruba linguistic groups formed around 3000–4000 years ago near the Niger-Benue confluence. The Ile-Ife city-state and classical Yoruba kingdoms rose from roughly the 8th–12th centuries CE, followed by the Oyo Empire. The 31,000-year kingdom claim exceeds current archaeological and linguistic evidence.
@lifeinSchool_ They are in my state too if you enter ogun state you’ll see millions of them doing business without anyone hassling them but they’ll come online and rain curses on their forefathers.
@MOLARORS There are lots of omo ale like him all over the region. Why is he not contesting for the position in the south east since he can speak the language their language. We said we don’t want him why is he forcing himself on us!
During the debate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour made a vital point about our cultural identity. He noted that while Lagos is Yorubaland and Yoruba is our native language, students are still being punished in schools for speaking it because it's labeled as 'vernacular'.
Something needs to be done immediately. Yoruba cannot be treated as vernacular in its own ancestral land. This is a critical issue that we must tackle right now to protect our heritage.
@treazyblaq@pontrol_777 A people without a strong sense of their own history will always feel inadequate, constantly needing to latch onto the identity of others to feel complete.
@stagurd1@73solom@tajudine2013gm2@pella_ika_ Your ever ready ancestors pushed and wasted millions of your forefathers and run for his life. Meaning you people are no different from animals you just take orders and go!! No common sense to think for yourself!! Now I see where their offspring get their stupidity from 🤣🤣🤣
@Dindu_vicky@pella_ika_ And you people are still the ones causing chaos beyond the continent and making fake babies food. your wickedness has traveled beyond borders. All this crimes were committed in our region but you termites can’t say the same.
@olawale110@grok@FrancisAle86994@uche_omah You really finished him!! If only our forefathers had known how ungrateful this beasts would become they wouldn’t have taken them out of their forest.
@Wunmispeaks@jollofqueeno@olawale110 He’s part of those people they look down on and he’ll still be kissing their feet. It’s people like him that makes them see us Yorubas as cowards. Omo akin nimi mio kin shojo!!!
