Just looking at my WhatsApp where more than 5 persons are saying the Lord sent them to me to ask for funds to meet some needs where as me and my personal Lord and Savior know say I just dey get by.

So one person is lying and it’s definitely not my God.

There is no day I think about this country and not feel sad

I was talking with a recent graduate. I asked her what next? She said "Japa" and I honestly don't blame her.

When a youth's dream changes from giving back to the country to leaving the country, the country has GREATLY FAILED!

Permit me to write how I feel under this post 😭
I am exhausted, I can’t confidently plan my future because the economy, currency and most importantly electricity is affecting my business. For the past 3 weeks I have been running my bakery business on gen. I can’t count my gain.
My nieces and nephews don’t see this, they believe their aunt is a big woman so they demand and I can’t say no cos it is their right.
My friends think having a bakery means I have millions of naira seated in my account.
My passport I did 2023 with the hope to at I will take myself for a vacation will expire soon and I couldn’t travel to Benin.
Anyone I ask to borrow me money, will tell me you’re a big girl 🥹

I would say it’s about aspiration that has been ingrained from time not necessarily because the country failed. People associate japa with prosperity and we’ve been conditioned to see it as such . Your chances of winning , the promise of a better future and the social branding and impression that comes with it are all the pull factor. Even if you offer a fresh graduate in Nigeria 500k salary, if an opportunity to japa comes on the same day they receive that appointment letter , many would rather japa . It’s not because 500k isn’t a good start but japa is like a short cut, it gives you an edge , a solid edge
