Antifascist. Bi D&D & Comic nerd. (She/Her) Valkyrjaliði, Nordic Heathen. Co-Author and artist of The Wyrd Less Woven, Author of Valkyrjur, Servant or Master?
@JCDuncanauthor@HiddenYorkshire Speaking as a Nordic Pagan who attends events with hundreds of other pagans, we do. To think otherwise is just silly, and - ironically - bad faith from the outset. The least you can do is believe us when we say we do. I don't see it as any different to any other religion.
@lluidnia@HiddenYorkshire Agreed - It's odd to be punching down to a religion that is much smaller than Christianity. There are far more Christians who never question their religion at all, and take the benefits of the label, than Pagans. We get no 'social credit' for being Pagan, only misconceptions.
@HiddenYorkshire Speaking as a Pagan, we can understand that the myths are stories filtered down through various layers of biases *and* still worship them as actual Gods that actually exist. Those two things can co-exist.
@HiddenYorkshire Those conversations are happening, and I have to wonder whether you are actively involved in the spaces those conversations are happening in? + We're very aware of Christian bias in our texts - we do not have the liberty to take everything literally. Inc. Ragnarok.
@Artemisapphire@HiddenYorkshire A lot of us take Ragnarok with a huge grain of salt. The dust veil in the 6th century + decline of the old ways in favour of the dogmatic Christisn religion = not a litetal interpretation of the myth.
@Vales_arts (It's called Valkyrjur, servant or master? It's a feminist look at the historical literature - a passion project of mine that tackles some of the enduring misconceptions). I'll keep an eye out for the link! :D
Here we go! Valkyrjur, Servant or Master? is now open for pre-orders from The Three Little Sisters and a variety of other locations around the world. Exciting!
It's essentially an absolute info-dump on the Valkyries, including basically everything you could ever want to know.
I released a new video! It's all about perceiving the Norn Skuld as a death deity / perhaps even the personification of death in the Nordic sphere. https://t.co/68XbshztSd
I would love to do some D&D/TTRPG stuff at @MCMComicCon in October & next year if they’d have me. Meet and greets, panels, live games (DM or Player) etc.
Need folks to show there’s interest there though. Cheeky like and RT if you’d come see me there? 👀👀
@thewildhunt I'm aware that I'm very lucky in that I'm a member of two organisations that don't have skeletons in the closet when it comes to being far-right aligned - and can thankfully still wear my Mjolnir without fear of drawing negative attention.
