Sure, it sounds good to you, but it limits communications with those their age, results in lost meaning, and privatizes communication to those wealthy enough to have the time and money to worry about how their children talk.

The idea that we should pressure our children ‘expand our children’s vocabulary’ frightens me somewhat. By this I mean when parents force children to refer to words like ‘very sad’ and ‘very happy’, as ‘distraught’ and ‘ecstatic’.
