@zhaoweiasu@HassanAesthetic Only in liver. Brain, muscle etc are largely out of reach. Liver space is really saturated.
I am hoping that in vivo SCD therapies will work :), it may spark some new excitement and confident in the field. Tessera and Beam are working on that.
@zhaoweiasu@HassanAesthetic I donβt think it is genomic, but delivery and acceptance among patients and MDs are still a problem. We need efficient and specific in vivo delivery but we are not there yet
@ilyasut Ilya:Hey ChatGPT, write me an insincere apology tweet, make sure to minimise my role in the coup.
ChatGPT:As a language model, I don't have ability to coordinate a coup in the most unprofessional way. I merely participate in the board's actions. I never intended to harm OpenAI.
@ProfBootyPhD@Roy_Lab_Thinks Also noteworthy is that he highlighted this approach for terminally-ill patients with diseases like blood disorders where ex-vivo delivery is possible.
It is not a proposal to cure all genetic diseases. It makes sense for very specific circumstances but certainly not for all.
@ProfBootyPhD@Roy_Lab_Thinks The proposal is to insert gene into safe harbour, and to only characterise once the off-targets of the Cas9 + gRNA targeting the safe harbour. His hope is that the same safety profile can be applied to different diseases regardless of the cargo genes.
@LifeAfterMyPhD PhD and postdoc are definitely the best time in my life. I love the people I work with, I am excited by the science. I made lifelong friendships .There were for sure tons of depressing moments but now I only remember the good one π
@bankless π²π²π² give me some hope that my π΅ is not πΈ yet. I wrote to bankless support 6 hours ago but I have not written to coinbase. Thanks ππ»
@bankless I was so happy that I can finally use crypto to pay. I jumped in immediately but I got nothing after payment. My membership stayed as basic.
Did I get into a phishing site? But I got a confirmation from Coinbase. Or the crypto payment is not ready and I jumped in too quickly ππ
@AmandaRiccioPhD@rita_strack 2 years ago I was starting postdoc with 54K, in BOSTON. My boss is great and he raised my salary as soon as he had a chance. Many still earn 56K in Boston area.
Whoever set the NIH minimum, we need to throw them in Boston/NYC/SF with 50K and see how long they will survive.
@HelinLab Nice! remind me an old paper by Lis and Kusch proposing that Set1 is required for pol2 release but they did not know why. Finally a mechanistic explanation for that. Great work.
@deng_davy Yikes! Choosing a lab for your PhD is already extremely stressful. It is so disgusting that PIs would just burn one of your rotations like that. Hope that your future PI will be a more respectful one.
