Gorgeous views from the class trip to Roaring Creek this morning, where we learned about how mining and the making of iron influenced the regrowth of this forest! #BisonFlowers @MartineBotany

Our class trip this morning was to Tall Timbers, a rare old-growth forest.Sadly we saw that the wooly adelgid has invaded and killed off many Tsuga canadensis trees. We discussed consequences of light changes and future shifts expected in this system #BisonFlowers @MartineBotany

Fall is so beautiful at Bucknell! It's pretty cool watching the leaves change colors and being able to ID these trees around campus #BisonFlowers @MartineBotany

Some highlights from my first trip to Turtle Creek Park this morning. We talked a lot about the interesting history of this ecosystem and saw the native trees that remain in the patch of the forest on a slope. Also met some puppies along the way!! #BisonFlowers @MartineBotany

Pretty cool that we visited the only place in Central PA that this rare species is found. This morning we got to walk through patches of Schoenoplectus fluviatalis at Montandon Marsh! #BisonFlowers @MartineBotany

Chillisquaque Natural Area is a hidden gem at Bucknell! By the creek we learned the dynamics are different on both sides of the water. Compared to the floodplain, the geology of the other side is higher & better suited for upland species like Tsuga. #BisonFlowers @MartineBotany

On today's class trip to Mohn Mill we hiked and visited this awesome fertile pool, which is home to Scirpus ancistrocaetus. We learned how it has become an extremely endangered plant and the ways other species are encroaching over this open habitat. @MartineBotany

I'm so excited to be back on campus but I can't help but miss this gorgeous scenery from FL vacation, capturing such amazing evergreens! Certainly major differences compared to the evergreens in the Cupressaceae or Pinaceae families in the grove. #BisonFlowers @MartineBotany

It's nice to see some positive news regarding the corona virus. Although this is still being studied, it appears that remdesivir is going to be approved by the FDA as a potential treatment for COVID-19!!
