It's simple, really, & it's not as universal a principle as it even was 10 years ago, & where it has collapsed seems to be more on the left than right - but I'll state it as plain as it really is:

Sovereign democracies require strictly enforced borders and carefully restricted immigration - & that's grounded in political philosophy, constitutional theory, and public policy administration.

It's realism, more than anything. And it's realism because it's totally unrealistic to have the best country possible without clear boundaries, manageable rates of growth, and equal application of the rule of law.

A democracy relies on equal enforcement of laws. Allowing systemic circumvention of immigration law creates a two-tiered standard, signaling that compliance with national laws is optional. As time goes by, this undermines public trust in legal institutions.

Look around - we ALL see it. Those of us born in Canada, those of us who arrived here, built a life, worked hard, assimilated & followed the rules. There is less respect for rules, regulations, & order than absolutely any previous time in my life. It's utterly impossible to counter this.

If you're pressed in an argument that's emotional (because there is no logic to counter this - there will just be the challenge that people who know the above to be true aren't as "big-hearted" or "caring" as those that have no logical points to argue).....simply use the "household analogy".

The country is a house. Every country is a house. And the keepers of that house decide by merit or logic who comes in & comes out of the house. It is not hateful to lock the door at night, to have an alarm system, to have a loud barking dog (or all three!). It's an act of care & responsibility to those who live inside the house, & the other houses around yours.

Canada is in peril for so many reasons, but none more than this - horrible management of immigration, horrible protection of our borders. It was nearly a decade of malpractice from the federal Liberals on this file, & extremely poor stewardship from many provincial leaders, including the last 2 Premiers of Ontario - Kathleen Wynne & Doug Ford. We have re-elected over and over again the poorest stewards, federally & provincially, regarding immigration control - & placed the futures of the many, many law-abiding new Canadians, in addition to generations of Canadian families.

Again, it will only be name-calling & emotional & reflexive responses that counter this.

@Funchal2022 @Mikeggibbs 2. My biggest issue with politics is hypocrisy, from both the far left and right wingers. I wish for the 70s and 80s when members from all parties would rally around important issues through committees to try and improve the situation at hand.
