Gainesville’s Firefighter Union took a unanimous vote of no confidence in the leadership of Mayor Lauren Poe. Today they announced formally asking for the Mayor’s resignation.

Alachua County Commissioners have voted again to extend their emergency order, which carries with it an indoor mask mandate, for another week. They can only extend this order twice more (2weeks).

Like many people, I’ve heard a variety of information, opinions, and “facts” about COVID vaccines on social media. So I spent nearly 45 minutes talking to a local infectious disease specialist about what really is the truth behind these various commonly quoted “facts.”

A group of Gainesville City workers are protesting the vaccine mandate. They walked to City Hall after a press conference where lawyer Jeff Childress spoke about the lawsuit he’s bringing against the city on behalf of concerned employees.

A birds eye view of Gainesville’s “Lot 10” is expected to look a whole lot different in just a few years as commissioners have approved a development plan which includes affordable condominiums, a grocery store and office space.

A concert hoping to draw a crowd of up to 5,000 will be held this weekend (Sunday) just outside of the city of Archer. We stopped by to check on what safety precautions they have in place for those who attend in regards to violence, and COVID.

The mask mandate will not be officially in place until it is drafted and signed. Commissioners hope to have that done by 5pm on Thursday.

BREAKING: County Commissioners have unanimously voted YES to a 7 day county-wide mask mandate for all indoor locations other than private residences. Commissioners will revisit and vote on this decision every 7 days.

Alachua County Commissioners are currently listening to Health experts about how COVID is affecting our community right now. All this information will go into their decision to possibly mandate city-wide masking. That decision is still pending a vote.

BREAKING: Alachua County Commissioners have scheduled an emergency meeting for Wednesday night at 5pm. They will be discussing ordering a county-wide mask mandate be put back in place. This would require all businesses to require customers wear masks regardless of vaccine status.
