Looking for a New Year’s resolution that’s fun, low-pressure, and helps you learn new skills? Say hello to cookbook night! 🎉🍴
My fiancé and I made this our shared resolution last year, and it’s been such a blast. Each week, one of us picks the cookbook, the other chooses the recipes, and on Wednesday nights, we hit pause on everything to cook up something new together.
We have too many cookbooks, so it’s been easy to keep things fresh, but you can totally swap cookbooks for food genres and find recipes online if you’re starting from scratch.
This little tradition has been such a grounding, joyful addition to our routine—especially when life gets chaotic.
Here are the cookbooks we used this year (in no particular order):
• Cook Real Hawaii - Sheldon Simeon @tinroofmaui
• Masa - Jorge Gaviria
• Diasporican - Illyanna Maisonet @eatgordaeat
• Mooncakes and Milk Bread - Kristina Cho
• Pasta - @missyarobbins & @TaliaBaiocchi
• Coconut & Sambal - @LaraLeeFood
• Chinese Enough - Grace Lin
• Gordon Ramsay’s Passion for Seafood - @GordonRamsay
• Cheryl Day’s Treasury of Southern Baking - @StarBrownie
• Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat - @CiaoSamin
• Indian Instant Pot Cookbook - @dr_urvashi
• King Solomon’s Table - @Joan_Nathan
• Thug Kitchen (Eat Like You Give a F*ck) - @badmannersfood
• Wisconsin Field to Fork - Allen Fredrickson
• Naturally Nourished - Sarah Britton
• Tartine - @tartinebaker
• Jew-ish - Jake Cohen
PS - I lied, Cook Real Hawaii by Sheldon Simon of @tinroofmaui and @BravoTopChef is my favorite so it goes on top 🥘✨

@deliciousmag@LaraLeeFood It is an absolutely fabulous recipe which we have had twice.I had chicken breasts and it worked really well. Left one batch marinating & we bbq’d them. The butter keeps the chicken succulent. Delicious.
