The continued enhancements optimize Treasury market liquidity in primary and secondary markets. The U.S. Treasury market’s liquidity and performance versus global peers is evidence.

While you voted for a $5 trillion tax hike on everyday Americans, the Working Families Tax Cuts continue to deliver for families and workers across the country. The average refund this filing season was over $3,400, an increase of 11 percent over the previous year. More than 30 million workers claimed No Tax on Overtime, more than 7 million claimed No Tax on Tips, and more than 37 million seniors claimed their enhanced deduction. More than 34 million families claimed the permanently enhanced Child Tax Credit, and millions of families are utilizing Trump Accounts to unlock a new savings vehicle for children. All of which you voted against.

These results are made possible by the employees of the Department of the Treasury, who are working around the clock for the American people. Unsurprisingly, you have responded by criticizing their dedication and aptitude for the job in a recent interview.¹ Despite your malign characterization, the Domestic Finance team you alluded to in your interview is fully staffed relative to historical levels. It is ironic that you have voted against every presidential appointee for a position at Treasury, no matter how impressive the qualifications for the role. Given your newfound interest in Department personnel, I challenge you to reverse course and thoughtfully engage with future nominees and support their confirmation.

Illinois politics and corruption have gone hand in hand since the 1800s.

And nothing has changed.

An Illinois state rep and her husband, the county clerk, are under federal indictment.

Both are still in office.

Both are on the November ballot.

And he's the one running the election.

Meet State Rep. Carol Ammons (D-Urbana) and her husband, Champaign County Clerk Aaron Ammons.

A federal grand jury indicted them in July.

Prosecutors allege:

‼️ From 2017 to 2025, Carol paid people out of her campaign fund for more than their work was worth, then took cash kickbacks back as "gifts."

‼️ Her campaign paid her daughter about $600 a month, more than $15,500 total, "not in proportion with services actually rendered."

‼️ She steered state grant money to nonprofits that employed her daughter. Prosecutors say the two of them got more than $100,000 in benefits.

‼️ She lied to the FBI about it.

Then her husband allegedly tried to make it go away.

‼️ Prosecutors say he passed a witness a note saying there was "nothing illegal" about friends giving friends money.

‼️ He told the witness to "muddy the waters" with the FBI. He suggested they talk in code words.

Carol faces 8 counts of wire fraud, lying to the FBI, and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Both pleaded not guilty.

A 10-foot alligator grabbed a 73-year-old woman by the leg and dragged her 70 feet into a pond. Her neighbor jumped into the water to save her, but moments later, they were both pulled beneath the surface.

Carol DeLillo was doing yardwork near her home in South Carolina when the massive alligator suddenly attacked, clamping its jaws around her leg and dragging her into the water.
