@USAFieldHockey Should have let Erin Matson try out for the team. Very frustrating that the national team is not more committed to putting the best team on the field. The rules allow for roster flexibility, this is a willful decision to stand pat to avoid ruffling feathers.
yes, there was jealousy towards me... It didn't feel good. I was just a teenager. BJK stood up for me ❤️I hope women's basketball follows suit. @CaitlinClark22 is making the sport better.
@USAFieldHockey@FIH_Hockey@TeamUSA@WorldSportPics_ Should have allowed Erin Matson to try out for the team. One of America's best players ever. A #14 ranking (not impressive) or hard-fought loss might be more palatable if it were clear the USA were committed to the best line-up, not field hockey bureaucracy and "dues paying."
@mtosc98 Agree, that was really smart coaching to exploit Iowa’s difficulty inbounding from the sideline. Geno did a great job getting his team in position to win down the stretch.
“I didn’t get to see the game-winning shot attempt I wanted to see, and thus it was wrong” is not a persuasive sports argument. It’s an entertainment argument. People forget that.
@GottliebShow NCAA women’s referee here. There are multiple ways in which this is an illegal screen. 1) the screeners base cannot be wider than shoulder width. 2) screener must remain set giving TIME and DISTANCE for a defender to react. 3) screener may not use arms as a point of contact.
@VKellySCKappa86 @SNYUConn What’s false? That Iowa played a lot of zone? That UConn played man? That teams sitting back in a zone don’t foul much? All of those things are Basketball 101 level uncontested facts. If you want to argue whether Geno was being disingenuous, sure, that’s an opinion.
@heathcummingssr It’s obvious to anyone who has a general knowledge of basketball.
It’s not obvious to anyone who supports UConn, dislikes Clark, who bet on UConn to win or just wants to push the narrative of the game being rigged for engagement.
@csnoww3 Analogy: if you were going to sack the quarterback, and were badly held, should the ref not call it to give the QB a chance to throw the game-winning touchdown?
@9KeysConsulting@nhannahjones I understand your points. I do think if you look at some of the additional video, it becomes a less controversial call. But great game and always hard when a foul near the end plays a big role.
@GottliebShow It’s not called when it’s off ball and cutter would be the secondary option. When cutter is the main option and would get a game-winning shot attempt with the defender, illegally impeded, yes, if they think it’s a foul they call it.
@jemelehill With respect, disagree: Edwards moved from foul line to three point line; had her legs extended far beyond shoulder width; and even threw up a chicken wing/shoulder that made contact with Marshall and impeded her, all right in front of the officials.
@Stunna999_@JoshReynolds24 It got called because of the elbow/shoulder action to the Iowa player’s face, I think. Refs were also right there to see it.
