Last month at a medical clinic waiting room in Richmond, Virginia. A nine-year-old boy named Cole, sensitive to noise and crowds, became overwhelmed by the waiting room. Sat rocking in his chair.
Hands over ears. His grandmother beside him couldn't reach him. Then a man named Frank, 67, sitting nearby quietly unclipped his Golden Retriever's leash.
The dog's name is Sunny. Frank's anxiety support dog for four years. Frank said one word quietly. Sunny walked straight to Cole and pressed against him. Cole's hands came down from his ears. He gripped Sunny's fur. The rocking stopped. Cole's grandmother looked at Frank through tears. Frank told her: "Sunny knew. He always knows when someone needs him more than I do right now." Sunny's training said help one person. His instinct said help whoever needs it most.
Trump cried communism at Mount Rushmore, so Bill Clinton named what America actually has: socialism for the super-rich. Friday night in the Black Hills, Trump used the country's 250th birthday to warn of "a resurgence of the communist menace in our land. "
The next morning, Bill Clinton answered.
While the other living ex-presidents posted gentle civics homilies for the Fourth, the 79-year-old two-termer published a bill of particulars.
Masked agents seizing people from their homes, their workplaces, the street.
A war on Iran started on a whim, with no objective and no exit.
A Supreme Court staffed with lifetime loyalists and a compliant Congress, used to prosecute enemies and choke off speech.
A federal government converted into a profit center for the people who run it and their friends.
"Their New Deal is socialism for the super-rich," Clinton wrote.
In American politics, socialism is the charge aimed at the left: Medicare, unions, any proposal to tax the rich. Clinton aimed the same word upward, at the bailouts and tax breaks that flow to the people who need the help least.
The idea was not original to him. Martin Luther King, Jr. made the point in the 1960s, when he said the country ran socialism for the rich and rugged individualism for the poor. What made it notable was the source.
Clinton had spent his presidency pulling the Democratic Party toward the center, signing welfare reform, deregulating Wall Street, announcing that the era of big government was over. Thirty years later he was reaching for a line from the left wing he had spent a career holding at a distance.
He did not mention Trump by name. The statement referred only to "the people in charge."
The day before, Trump had spoken warmly about Clinton. Reading a children's book about the presidents on Usha Vance's podcast, he was asked about the former president. "He actually was a nice guy," Trump said. "I like Bill Clinton a lot. I still do."
Clinton's statement went out the next morning. He did not return the compliment.
Meet MAGAt and pro-Russian grifter Gunther Eagleman (David Freeman).
In late 2024, the U.S. DOJ indicted Tenet Media, revealing it was a covert $10 million Russian influence operation funded by the state-controlled network RT.
Following the indictment, online researchers and critics exposed ties between Freeman's "Gunther Eagleman" account and the network's ecosystem. Freeman defended himself by stating he only received "tens of thousands" of dollars in standard "ad revenue" through X and content distribution networks rather than direct Russian payroll. Critics, however, pointed out that he aggressively deleted dozens of his pro-Russia and anti-Ukraine posts immediately after the DOJ indictment went public.
Even if the money trail was indirect, NATO-affiliated researchers and independent watchdogs have documented that Freeman heavily amplified Kremlin talking points to his over 600,000 followers. This included writing a viral post publicly apologizing to Vladimir Putin for U.S. funding of Ukraine and spreading debunked claims that there was "no video content from the war in Ukraine" to undermine public support for the war effort.
Freeman has worked closely with X Strategies, a right-wing digital consulting firm. These firms frequently act as middlemen—taking money from massive PACs, corporate entities, or foreign-adjacent media networks—and then paying individual influencers micro-fees (like his documented $300 repost fee) to blast out specific narratives, giving the influencers plausible deniability about where the original funding originated.
Nothing quite says "Happy Birthday America,"... like an 80-year-old dementia patient flying to Mount Rushmore in a grifted Qatari jet,... to give a speech on how the Democrats are communists and they stole the 2020 election.
Two buses. Seventy years apart.
On December 21, 1956, Rosa Parks rode a Montgomery bus on its first day of desegregation. She sat under the gaze of white America after refusing to accept second-class citizenship.
On July 4, 2026, another Black woman sat alone on a bus reportedly filled with white supremacists traveling to a march in Washington, D.C.
Different decade. Different faces. Same message: Black existence is still treated by some as something to monitor, intimidate, or control.
America celebrates 250 years of liberty. Black Americans have spent much of those 250 years fighting to make those words apply to us too.
Different time. Same struggle. 🇺🇸
